Annotate an Image

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient. Select an existing encounter from the Encounter History or create an encounter. Open the template that contains the Graphical Exam Tool (GET) component. The GET component window opens. The findings and exam tools are displayed for the selected location and provider in GET component. Note: The GET template can be opened in NextGen® Enterprise EHR without selecting the Reason for Visit. From the REASON FOR VISIT pane, select the reason for visit that you want to attach the finding. To change profile settings, select Settings from the Options and Settings Popup Menu . The Graphical Exam Tool - Settings window opens. Note: To edit profile settings, you must have the Operations Right for Administration > Edit EHR Component Profiles enabled in the System Administrator. Select the tab that contains the image you want to annotate first. The tab for the first image appears by default. Adjust the view or manipulate the image using the image toolbar

Add a Reason for Visit

If you are a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine user, you can select reasons for visit from the picklist in the GET component. The data in the picklist is based on master_im_.specialty and master_im_.txt_age_yrs fields in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine master_im. If you are creating a custom template, you can add reasons for visit by creating or mapping data to the master_im_.chiefcomplaint fields, as described in Managing Reasons for Visit. In the REASON FOR VISIT pane, select the Extra menu icon, and select Manage Reasons for Visit. The Reasons for Visit window opens. From the list at the bottom of the window, select the reason. Note: This list is populated by the stored procedure for the ngkbm_udg_rfv_picklist. This picklist is not available outside NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Select Add. The reason is added to the window. Repeat step 2 for each reason you want to add. The Reasons for Visit window lists each reason in the order that it was added. Select Close. The REASON FOR V

Graphical Exam Tool Annotations

The Graphical Exam Tool (GET) enables you to: Place annotations on images to document the location of findings. The placement of the annotations is converted into text and captured as an attribute of the finding. The attributes are saved to the patient's chart. For example, a dermatologist can place findings for cancer on an image. The attributes related to each finding can include size, color, location, or description. Attach a finding to a chief complaint or reason for visit. You can attach multiple findings to different reasons for visit. Mark a finding for follow-up and create a to-do task for the finding. Attach an image (photo or drawing) to a finding. The image can be from the provider's file system or from the patient's chart for the current encounter. You can capture an image from a web cam or other video device for attachment to the finding. Create and update a lab, radiology, or immunizations order for a finding. Display Selected Reason for Visit Annotations

Display the reason for visit in the REASON FOR VISIT pane. From the Extra menu, select Filter Annotations. Only the image annotations associated with that reason for visit appear. For example, two annotations on image one are attached to the reason of fatigue. Other annotations on images one and two are attached to the reason of low grade fever. If fatigue is the currently displayed reason and you filter annotations, only the two annotations on image one associated with fatigue display. Integrate a Document Macro to Filter Finding Images

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient. Select an existing encounter or create an encounter and open the template that contains the Graphical Exam Tool (GET) component. The GET component window opens. In the REASON FOR VISIT pane, select the Menu icon, and then select Manage Reasons for Visit. The Reasons for Visit window opens. From the list at the bottom of the window, select the reason and select Add. From the IMAGES panes, select the Images check box, select FINDINGS and annotate the GET image. A new row is added in the Findings Data Grid with the findings details. An icon appears in the Findings Data Grid row denoting that multiple images are attached to the finding. On the NextGen® Enterprise EHR toolbar, select Save. All the images saved to the patient's chart are renamed to the image description that is Finding Name-Region Description( x. x). From the Categories tab, open the document that contains the GET images and select Generate. The generated document displays the

Configuration of Reasons for Visit

You can configure up to 14 chief complaints in the Reason for Visit panel. Each reason for visit is linked to a history of present illness template. You can create and store those links on the Manage Custom Links practice template.
