Procedures Module

You can record all of the medical procedures associated with a patient in the Procedures module. You can add, modify, and delete any and all procedures related to a patient's medical history as long as the specific encounter is not locked. Open the Procedures Module You can open the Procedures module from Top Toolbar of NextGen Enterprise EHR. Document a Patient Has No Known Procedures You can indicate that a patient did not have any known procedures in the patient chart. Adding Procedures on Charge Submission of Orders You can create procedures after submitting charges for orders in the Orders module. Add a Procedure to a Patient Chart You can select and add a Place of Selection (POS) address to a procedure. Implantable Devices List

To help make better informed decisions about a patient's care, you can maintain a list of the patient's implantable devices that meets federal requirements. Implantable devices must be associated with an encounter. When Enterprise Chart is enabled, the patient’s implantable device details are shared across the practices in an enterprise. The implantable devices list helps you to: Specify that a patient has no implantable devices. Add an implantable device record to an encounter. Edit certain data on an implantable device record, including active and inactive status of that record. Link a device to a historical procedure or remove a link. Open the Clinical Reconciliation module to import new implantable device data from a C-CDA document to NextGen® Enterprise. Add an Implantable Device to an Encounter

You can add implantable devices only to unlocked encounters. The information used to create the implantable device record is received from the FDA-created Global Unique Device Identification Database (GUDID). In the Implantable Devices window, select Add Device. The Select Implantable Device window opens. In the search bar, enter the full or partial name of a device. You can also enter multiple search terms separated by spaces, or you can copy and paste the device's unique device identifier (UDI). Select Search. A list of devices matching your search appear on the window. Select Implantable Device Select the device you want to add, and select OK. The Select Implantable Device window closes and the device is added to the implantable devices list. Note: You might not see all available fields. Handling Medical Procedures and Implantable Devices

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, you can record the medical procedures associated with a patient, and manage medical device reports within NextGen® Enterprise EHR. In Procedures module, you can add, modify, and delete any procedures related to a patient's medical history. The Procedures module also enables you to view who created and last modified any procedure. In implantable devices list, you can maintain a list of the patient's implantable devices that meet federal requirements. The Integrated Equipment module enables you to create and view medical device reports within NextGen® Enterprise EHR. In Superbill module, you can create a detailed summary of services provided with procedures, problems, and modifiers linked to each other. The Superbill module also enables you to assign a summary of services to a particular health plan, and subsequently export all the available information to the billing system. Deactivate an Implantable Device Record

Mark an active implantable device record as inactive to deactivate it. Open the Implantable Devices window and locate an active device record. Select the record to expand it and verify that you selected the correct record. To deactivate a device: Select Modify Device. The Modify Implantable Device window opens. In Device Placed, select the date that the device was placed. In Device Status, select Inactive. In Note, enter a note that explains the reason for changing the device status, or provides more details about the device. Select OK. The Device Status displays Inactive. The Notes section tracks all changes to the Device Status. Select OK. The window moves the inactive device below the active devices. Conditions for Changing Information in Locked Encounters

When an encounter is locked, you can change some information only under certain conditions: You can add or modify notes because they are linked to the device record instead of the encounter. You can modify the date device was placed. You can activate and deactivate devices. You cannot modify the date the device was removed. To change the date, you would have to first deactivate the device. You can link and unlink a procedure only when the original encounter was selected. If Enterprise Chart is turned on and you open a device record that originated in another practice: You can add or modify notes. You can modify the date device was placed.
