Create New Midmark Spirometry Tests

The Midmark spirometer interface enables you to choose among FVC, VC, and MVV tests in both Pre-Bronchodilator (Pre-BD) and Post-Bronchodilator (Post-BD) modes.

  1. Prepare the patient for the test as needed.
  2. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, load a patient and select a location and provider.
  3. Open the Integrated Equipment Module
  4. From the Acquire Report list, select Midmark Spirometer.
If the Check Missing Information window appears, enter any missing values that you wish to and select Save and Continue.

If you omit the Race, Date of Birth, Sex, or Height values, the following prompt appears:

Select Yes to continue or No to return to the previous window.

    The Spirometry Test window opens.

  5. If the Spirometer has not been calibrated, a message appears, offering to perform calibration.

Select Yes to perform the calibration or No to continue with the test.

For details on how to perform the calibration, refer to the IQmark Digital Spirometer Operation Manual.
  6. On the Spirometry Test window:
    • Select Settings to adjust any Spirometry options.
    • Select either Pre (Bronchodilator) or Post (Bronchodilator) and then select the test type ( FVC, VC or MVW) .
    • Select Start New Test.
The system zeroes the sensor and displays an incentive graphic.

    • Direct the patient to begin the Spirometry test.
    • After the numbers have stopped rising, instruct the patient to inhale maximally and select Stop or select the Enter key to complete the test.
    • Select Save Review.

A new Midmark Spirometry report appears in the IEM grid and an Equipment Report indicator appears in the History toolbar under the encounter.

    The Spirometry Report window appears.
