Set Up Orderable Guideline Test Items

You can set up an orderable guideline test item on the Care Guidelines Setup template.

  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
  2. From File, select System \ Practice Template.
    The Select Template window opens.
  3. On the Practice tab, select the All option.
  4. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK.
    The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens.
  5. Expand the Intervention/Orders Setup panel, select a reason type from the list, and then select a Condition/Reason.
    The grid refreshes with the list of all guideline reasons from the Define Guideline Reasons & Auto Application panel. You can filter the grid to view tests only in the selected guideline.
  6. Select an order type in Intervention/Test type.
    The selected guideline or test type filters test names that appear in Intervention/Test name.
  7. Select Intervention/Test name.
  8. In Apply to, select a gender code from the list.
    By default, the gender specified for the guideline in the Define Guideline Reasons and Auto Application panel appears.
  9. In the Standard settings section, to select the interval type for the test to be performed, select Options and enter the details.

  10. Select the start age to initiate the test.
    The start age triggers the test or exam to appear as due on a date or timeframe that depends on the age of the patient.
  11. Select the stop age for the test.
    The stop age triggers the test or exam to appear as due on a date or timeframe that depends on the age of the patient.
  12. If a different test code for Medicare patients is available, select Medicare code, enter the CPT® code, and select Verify.
  13. Select the Attributes/Feedback link.
    The Attributes View and Management template opens.
  14. To document attributes for the current guideline or test item, select Attributes/Feedback and enter the details.
    You can open the webpage in the Care Guidelines templates if an Internet URL is entered in the reference link.
  15. If appropriate, select values for settings in the High risk settings section.

  16. After entering the details for the guideline or test item, select Add.
    The guideline or test item appears in the Intervention/Orders Setup panel grid.
  17. Select OK.
