Start and Stop Ages
You can specify a patient's start and stop age for a care guideline.
If a start age and stop age are not specified, the guideline applies to the patient when it is activated regardless of the patient’s age.
- Start age defines when the test should be initiated. The start age triggers the test or exam to show as due on a date or timeframe that depends on the age of the patient.
- Stop age defines when the test should no longer be performed. The stop age triggers the test or exam to show as due on a date or timeframe that depends on the age of the patient. If the patient’s age reaches the stop age, the guideline or test is not followed and does not appear as due. If no stop age is set, the guideline/test continues to be followed and to display appear as due for all patients regardless of age.
When a guideline item reaches the stop age, a patient exceeds recommended age alert appears in the grid to notify users. The item appears in the grid until the next new encounter for the patient.
Users can extend the time for the item using the Care Guideline Update template. You can select the guideline item in the Care Guidelines panel grid and select the Edit button to open the Care Guideline Update template.
