Modify an Individual Guideline Item for a Patient
You can modify an individual guideline item for a patient on the Care Guidelines Paged View template.
An orderable guideline item can be modified at the patient level.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Open the Care Guidelines Paged View template.
- For an orderable guideline item, select the link below the item’s name.
The Modify Intervals and Effective Ages template opens.
- The Current section shows the values for Interval, Start age, and Stop age currently set for the orderable item.
- The Default section shows the default standard values for Interval, Start age, and Stop age for the orderable item. These values are configured on the Care Guidelines Setup practice template in the Intervention/Orders Setup panel in the Standard settings section.
- In the Current section, select the Interval field, and select an interval in Weeks, Months, or Years.
- In the Current section, select the Start age field, and select the age in Weeks, Months, or Years when the guideline exam or test should be performed and followed.
- If the patient’s age is less than the start age, the guideline exam or test appears as due in black font.
- If no start age is set, the guideline exam or test is followed appears as due for all patients regardless of age.
- In the Current section, select the Stop age field, and select the age in Weeks, Months, or Years at which the guideline exam or test should stop to follow.
- If the patient’s age reaches the stop age, the guideline exam or test is not followed, and does not appear as due.
- If no stop age is set, the guideline or test continues to be followed and appears as due for all patients regardless of age.
Note: The Custom check box is automatically selected when you make any change from the Default standard values for the guideline. - Select the Web button to open a browser to the care guideline’s reference website.
- Select Save & Close.
The blue Interval and Effective Ages link is updated to reflect the new settings.
The standard values for Interval, Start age, and Stop age for an orderable guideline item are configured on the Care Guidelines Setup practice template. These values can be modified at the global level for the guideline, and as a result are also modified for all patients for whom the guideline is applied and actively being followed.
