Information Displayed in the Care Guidelines Panel

You can view and edit the information displayed in the Care Guidelines panel. NextGen Healthcare recommends you to be familiar with the Care Guidelines panel on the Care Guidelines Paged View template for ease of use. Care Guidelines Paged View Active guidelines listed in the patient guidelines section: Patient's Guidelines section in the left pane lists all care guidelines that are currently being followed for the patient. Also called active guidelines. Badges next to each active guideline display the number of items for that guideline that are due. An item can belong to more than one care guideline. For guideline items listed in the panel: Orderable items have a check box. You must select the check box to place an order for the item. The Place Order button remains disabled until you select a check box. Care Guidelines Paged View Recommended Care items do not have a check box. Instead, they have Goals. Working with Orderable Guideline Items

You can order an guideline item for a patient using the Care Guidelines panel. Orderable guideline items have a check box used for placing orders. Encounter workflow for orderable items, includes: Reviewing the next due date Reviewing the last completed date Updating the status Placing orders for any tests/exams that are due Update Status or Compliance of an Orderable Item You can update the status of an orderable item using the Care Guidelines panel. Place an Order for an Orderable Guideline Item You can place an order for an orderable guideline using the Care Guidelines panel. Place an Order for a Lab or Radiology Guideline Item Using the Order Module You can place an order for a lab or radiology guideline item on the Order module. Personalized Orderables

You can personalize individual orderables care guidelines for a patient. The personalized orderables functionality enables you to select individual tests to follow for the patient, without activating an entire guideline. For example, you may want to follow hemoglobin A1c lab test for the patient even though the patient does not have a diagnosis of diabetes. You can create a Personalized Orderable items for any number of individual tests. Tests will be tracked in the care guidelines application as orderable guideline items, and will appear in the left pane below personalized item. Working with Recommended Care Guideline Items

You can select a goal for a patient using the recommended care guideline items. Recommended care guideline items do not have a check box for placing orders. They have a blue link that directs you to select a goal for the patient regarding the item. You can change this goal later. Encounter workflow for recommended care items, includes: Selecting or updating goals for the patient Update status and patient compliance Recommended care goals and statuses listed in DB picklist are configured on the Recommended Care practice template. Filtering Items in the Care Guidelines Panel

The Care Guidelines panel on the Care Guidelines Paged View template enables you to filter what is displayed. Display Specific Active Guideline Item for a Patient You can filter display items for a specific guideline that is active for a patient. Filter Displayed Guideline Item Using the Check Box You can filter displayed guideline item that is active for a patient using the check box. Modify an Individual Guideline Item for a Patient

You can modify an individual guideline item for a patient on the Care Guidelines Paged View template. An orderable guideline item can be modified at the patient level. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Care Guidelines Paged View template. For an orderable guideline item, select the link below the item’s name. Dental Exam The Modify Intervals and Effective Ages template opens. The Current section shows the values for Interval, Start age, and Stop age currently set for the orderable item. The Default section shows the default standard values for Interval, Start age, and Stop age for the orderable item. These values are configured on the Care Guidelines Setup practice template in the Intervention/Orders Setup panel in the Standard settings section. Modify Intervals and Effective Ages In the Current section, select the Interval field, and select an interval in Weeks, Months, or Years.
