Update Orderable Guideline Test Items

You can update an orderable test item of a patient using the Intervention/Orders Setup on the Care Guideline Setup template.

  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
  2. From File, select System \ Practice Template.
    The Select Template window opens.
  3. On the Practice tab, select the All option.
  4. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK.
    The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens.
  5. Expand the Intervention/Orders Setup panel and then select the guideline or test item from the Orderable Tests Setup data grid.
    Details for the guideline or test item appear in the fields above the grid. These values can be modified.
  6. In Condition/Reason, select any from the list.
  7. In Guideline /Test type, select the order types from the list.
  8. In Guideline/Test name (required), enter the name.
    You can use text for instructions, health screening, and referrals.
    The Guideline/Test code value automatically fills when the guideline or test name is selected from a list.
  9. To select which gender the guideline test should apply to, select Apply to, and then select a gender from the list.
  10. In the Standard settings section, select the following values for all guideline/test items:
    • Interval allow you to select a time interval for the test to be performed.
    • Start age allow you to select the age when the test should start to be performed and followed.
    • Stop age allow you to select the age when the test should stop being performed and followed.
    • Medicare code allow you to type in an appropriate code in the Medication code field when there is a different test code specifically for medicare patients.
  11. Select the Attributes/Feedback link.
    The Attributes View and Management window opens.
  12. Select Reference link to enter or modify the reference.
  13. In the High risk settings section, make the required updates.
    The settings in the High risk settings section is used by the health maintenance guideline for high risk patients. If a health maintenance guideline item has standard settings, they display in the High Risk settings fields by default.
    You can set the values for the Interval, Start age, Stop age, and Medicare code fields in the High risk settings section to have a shorter time interval, a younger start age, or an older stop age, if needed.
  14. Select Update.
    The updated details for the guideline/test item appear in the grid.
