Panel	Description
Manage Groups and Options	Enables you to provide the functionality to create to guidelines based on the reason types.
Define Guideline Reasons & Auto Application	Enables you to define guidelines for a condition or disease.
Interventions / Orders Setup	Enables you to set up lab tests, diagnostic studies, and examinations (orderable items) for a guideline.
Interventions/Test Equivalent Codes/Descriptions	Intervention Equivalents section Enables you to set up any test descriptions or billing codes that are equivalent synonyms for a test defined in a guideline using either a description or a test code. You do not have to enter both. Document Types/Codifications section Enables you to use the Document Types/Codificationssection to link guidelines or tests to scanned document types to satisfy a guideline based on the tests that have not been ordered by the practice but performed elsewhere and the results have been sent to the practice.
Duplicate Orderable Codes	Enables you to use the Test Code field to search for duplicate codes that exist in various Care Guidelines setup configurations. You can view and determine if these duplicates are acceptable or need to be addressed.
FAQs	Enables you to find answers for many frequently asked questions about the Care Guidelines system, how it works, and how to use it to perform common tasks and so forth.

Set Up Orderable Guideline Test Items

You can set up an orderable guideline test item on the Care Guidelines Setup template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Care Guideline Setup, and then select OK. The Care Guideline Setup practice template opens. Expand the Intervention/Orders Setup panel, select a reason type from the list, and then select a Condition/Reason. The grid refreshes with the list of all guideline reasons from the Define Guideline Reasons & Auto Application panel. You can filter the grid to view tests only in the selected guideline. Select an order type in Intervention/Test type. The selected guideline or test type filters test names that appear in Intervention/Test name. Select Intervention/Test name. In Apply to, select a gender code from the list. By default, the gender specified for the guideline in the Define Guideline Reasons and Auto Application panel appears. In the Standard

Interventions Test Equivalent Codes or Descriptions

You can define additional descriptions and codes in the Interventions or Test Equivalent Codes or Descriptions panel. The Interventions/Test Equivalent Codes/Descriptions panel is available on the Care Guidelines Setup practice template. There are three sections on the Interventions/Test Equivalent Codes/Descriptions panel where you can define additional descriptions and codes for orderable items that can be used with care guidelines: Intervention Equivalents File Maintenance Mappings Document Types / Codifications Interventions_Test Equivalent Codes_Description The data entered on this panel is used to map a test name used by a practice to a description or code used by an outside location or vendor. CAUTION: It is the best practice to add tests, along with codes or descriptions as needed for mapping instead of modifying or deleting those that come shipped with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Setting Up Intervention Tests Orders

You can set up the orderable test on the Care Guidelines Setup template. You can define the orderable tests (formerly protocols) for a guideline in the Intervention/Orders Setup panel on the Care Guidelines Setup practice template. Initially, the grid displays all orderable tests for all guidelines in the system. You can select a condition or reason from the Condition/Reason and Reason type field and filter the grid so that it only displays the orderable tests that are part of that guideline. Orderable Tests Setup Panel CAUTION: Changes made to guideline items in the Intervention/Orders Setup panel impact all patients. Changes made at a patient level only impact that specific patient. Care Guidelines Setup

On the Care Guidelines Setup template, you can set up the guideline test items. Care guidelines consist of orderable items (previously known as protocols) and recommended care items. Some guideline items are performed within a specific time interval, indicated by a date in the Due column. Items with due dates are ordered, and items without a due date are listed as a reminder to review them with the patient and update their status without having to place orders. Before you use the Care Guidelines panel on the Care Guidelines templates, you must review and ensure that the guidelines that come with the application meet the needs of the practice. For configuration, care guidelines are divided into orderable and recommended items. Using the Care Guidelines Setup practice template, you can set up orderable items. Defining Guideline Reasons and Auto Application

You can use the Define Guideline Reasons & Auto Application panel to define the care guidelines condition or reason. The Define Guideline Reasons & Auto Application panel is used to set up a guideline for a condition or reason type, with criteria for birth sex, start and stop ages, and diagnosis category. The settings on this panel determine on which patients the guideline can be applied to. The Guidelines Conditions/Reasons for Reason type are created, updated, or removed from guideline in this panel. Guidelines can be configured to be applied automatically to patients by selecting the Auto-apply Yes check box. You can set Birth Sex, Start age, Stop age, and Diagnosis group for a guideline to determine when the system should automatically apply a guideline. These settings apply only when auto-apply is yes.
