Pediatric Care Guidelines

You can apply the pre-defined guidelines to a pediatric patient for all the defined age groups.

The pediatric care guideline Peds differs from other pre-defined guidelines because the pediatric guideline has multiple well visits that are to take place as the patient reaches defined ages.

  • When the pediatric guideline is applied to a pediatric patient, all actual due dates display even if they are far into the future, including for any well visit for which the actual age of the patient exceeds the usual or defined age for the visit.
  • Any visit or test for which the child exceeds the Stop Age does not display. The test displays at the time the guideline is applied but with a note that says the patient exceeds the recommended age. At the next encounter, these tests do not display at all.
  • Well visits for a specific age are completed during the course of a well visit encounter based on the well visit diagnosis code and the age of the child.
  • Autism screens are completed when the MCHAT™ is completed during the office visit.

For more information on MCHAT, see The Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, Revised, with Follow-Up (M-CHAT-R/F™; Robins, D.L., Fein, D., and Barton, M., 2009). Download of the M-CHAT-R/F and related material is authorized from http://www.mchatscreen.com.
