Accessing and Setting up Templates from Navigation Bar

You can access and configure various templates in the Navigation bar. The navigation bar consists of links for quick navigation. You can generate notes, open templates, document a patient's education and health data, manage referral and orders, and so on. Based on the configuration done on the Custom Navigation template, the links appear on the navigation bar. NextGen Healthcare recommends you to use some of the common features, such as Patient Information Card, panel controls, and links from the left navigation bar, that are available in a standard visit template set for best work outcomes. Patient Information Card You can view pertinent information about a patient through the Patient Information Card (PIC). Template Headers for Displaying Patient Information You can review template headers for patient and change the display. Viewing Risk Factors You can view details about patients' risk factors to help you to evaluate their health condition. Open the Template Data Sets Setup Template

The Health Promotion Plan template is packaged with BMI Plan, Depression Plan, and Hypertension Plan. You can also create a customized health promotion plans. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select File > System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. Select the Practice tab. In the Show section, select All. A list of templates appear. Double-click Data Sets Setup. The Data Sets Setup practice template opens. In the Data Set field, select Health Promotion Plan from the list. Set Up HPIs to Appear in the Reason for Visit

You can set up the History of Present Illness (HPI) to appear in the reason for visit. A practice can configure the Reason for Visit panel using the Framework Content system template. For more information on the reason for visit configuration, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Framework Content System Template forNextGen®Adaptive Content Engine. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. In the Show section, select All. To open the Framework Content template, double-click Framework Content. Select Specialty and select a specialty from the list. Expand the Reason for Visit panel. In Filter, select the all option. Select the reason for visit linked to the appropriate History of Present Illness (HPI), which you want to add to the all list in the Reason for Visit list. Note: The reasons for visit are linked to an HPI template on the Manage Custom Links practice template. Select OK.

Set Up Template Preferences

You can configure the default and preferred templates to automatically open the templates for an encounter. You can also configure the workflow after opening an encounter from the Workflow Appointment list. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select Tools > Preferences. The Preferences window opens. Preferences window Select the Templates tab. To move a commonly used template in the preferred list, select the template in the Available Templates list and then select the right arrow. The selected template appears in the Preferred Templates list. To select all templates, select the double-right arrow. To set a default template, from the Default Template list, select a template. Note: NextGen Healthcare recommends setting the Home Page (fts_home_page) template as a default template which provides a clinical summary of the patient to the provider.
