Patient Encounter Documentation

You can use NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates to document patient encounters on the visit types associated with the specialties available. The standard office and virtual visit workflow are documented on the following templates: Intake Histories SOAP Finalize Checkout Note: The workflow may vary with some specialties such as ophthalmology, cardiology, and obstetrics. For more information on the template set used to document a specialty, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the associated user guide. Some common features available in a standard visit template set are the Patient Information Card, panel controls, and links from the navigation bar. Using the Intake and Histories templates, a nurse or medical assistant can document the reasons for visit, medication, allergies, social history, and so on. Accessing and Setting up Templates from Navigation Bar

You can access and configure various templates in the Navigation bar. The navigation bar consists of links for quick navigation. You can generate notes, open templates, document a patient's education and health data, manage referral and orders, and so on. Based on the configuration done on the Custom Navigation template, the links appear on the navigation bar. Managing Basic Configuration

Before you begin, you can configure some optional settings such as template preferences, template links, and so on. Optimizing basic settings can enhance work outcomes. NextGen Healthcare recommends that you configure the basic settings for ease of use NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Set Up Template Preferences You can configure the default and preferred templates to automatically open the templates for an encounter. You can also configure the workflow after opening an encounter from the Workflow Appointment list. Template Links You can use links to open frequently used templates. Navigation Bar On the navigation bar, you can find customizable links to open additional templates that may not be part of the main workflow. Set Up HPIs to Appear in the Reason for Visit You can set up the History of Present Illness (HPI) to appear in the reason for visit.
