Patient Encounter Documentation
You can use NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates to document patient encounters on the visit types associated with the specialties available.
The standard office and virtual visit workflow are documented on the following templates:
- Intake
- Histories
- SOAP
- Finalize
- Checkout
Some common features available in a standard visit template set are the Patient Information Card, panel controls, and links from the navigation bar.
Using the Intake and Histories templates, a nurse or medical assistant can document the reasons for visit, medication, allergies, social history, and so on.
Providers use the SOAP and Finalize templates to document assessment and physical exam details, generate evaluation, management codes, and so on.
During an encounter, a provider can involve a licensed clinical pharmacist to provide medication recommendations to the patients. Using the Clinical Pharmacist visit type, a clinical pharmacist can review the patient information and provide a recommendation to the patients visiting for the Family Practice, Internal Medicine, and Pediatrics specialties. A practice can configure the Clinical Pharmacist button in the Assessment / Plan panel, and a clinical pharmacist can select this button to provide their recommendations. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Family Practice User Guide forNextGen®Adaptive Content Engine and Pediatrics User Guide forNextGen®Adaptive Content Engine.
Front desk employees use the Checkout template to view order details and provide necessary documents to the patient.
Before documenting a standard visit, you can configure certain optional settings to quickly access some templates and features. Common configurations associated with some templates are setting up task recipients, new links, the navigation bar, and reasons for visits.
