Viewing Encounter-Based Information

You can view the primary care, referring and rendering provider information on the Patient Information Card (PIC). Additionally, you can open specific templates to document encounter-specific details of the patient. You can configure the following default template links in File Maintenance. You can also configure other template links to be displayed or hidden in the PIC. The Referring Provider link opens the Patient Providers template, which includes details about primary care and encounter providers. You can enter additional referring provider details and select providers to be included on the Visit Note document. You can also copy other providers on the patient’s chart note. The HIPAA link opens the HIPAA Disclosure Information template, where you can document the authorization provided by the patient or legal guardian to disclose protected health information. Managing Basic User Interface Functionality

NextGen Healthcare recommends you to use some of the common features, such as Patient Information Card, panel controls, and links from the left navigation bar, that are available in a standard visit template set for best work outcomes. Patient Information Card You can view pertinent information about a patient through the Patient Information Card (PIC). Template Headers for Displaying Patient Information You can review template headers for patient and change the display. Viewing Risk Factors You can view details about patients' risk factors to help you to evaluate their health condition. Contagion Risk You can document to contagion exposure for patients and their travel to areas at high risk for such exposure. View the Patient Information Card

When you open a patient's chart, the patient's information appears on the Patient Information Card (PIC) in the default expanded view. The PIC's position is fixed and always visible from any clinical module or template within the NextGen® Enterprise EHR workflow. You can collapse the PIC when you need more workspace for other modules or templates. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Search for and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. The patient chart opens and the expanded view of the PIC appears by default. To collapse the PIC, select button. Note: In the collapsed view, you can select Profile Options to view and select templates that are available in the expanded view of the PIC. To return to the expanded view, select button. Using Layout and User Preferences

NextGen® Enterprise EHR layout comprises menus and toolbars such as Title bar, Main menu, Top toolbar, and Status bar. You can set the user preferences and work with patient encounters and categories. You can also view the calendars and icons, and access the Alerts module, if the Patient Information Card (PIC) is enabled. The PIC in NextGen® Enterprise EHR provides the following information. View a Patient's Appointments

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. Select an encounter dated Today, or create an encounter. Note: Patient Tracking is available only when the patient has an active encounter dated Today. For all other encounters, the Patient Tracking button appears as New Encounter. To view a quick summary of the patient tracking records for the visit, on the Patient Information Card (PIC), hover over Patient Tracking. The Patient Tracking table appears displaying information on the appointment time, room, status, recorded time, and documenting person. Patient Tracking To view more details of the appointment and update the room and tracking status on the PIC, click Patient Tracking. Patient Encounter Documentation

You can use NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates to document patient encounters on the visit types associated with the specialties available. The standard office and virtual visit workflow are documented on the following templates: Intake Histories SOAP Finalize Checkout Note: The workflow may vary with some specialties such as ophthalmology, cardiology, and obstetrics. For more information on the template set used to document a specialty, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the associated user guide. Some common features available in a standard visit template set are the Patient Information Card, panel controls, and links from the navigation bar.
