Gastroenterology Office and Virtual Visit Encounters Documentation

You can use NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine to document patient encounters in the gastroenterology specialty.

Documentation for the gastroenterology office and virtual-visit workflows are available in the following templates.

  • Intake
  • Histories
  • SOAP
  • Finalize
  • Checkout

The general office and virtual-visit workflow includes the following:

  • The intake staff workflow provides instructions for nurses or medical assistants on how to use the Intake and Histories templates to document the reasons for visit, medication, allergies, social history, and so on.
  • The provider workflow provides instructions for providers on how to use the SOAP and Finalize templates to document assessment and physical exam details, generate evaluation, management codes, and so on.
  • The checkout staff workflow provides instructions for front-desk employees on how to use the Checkout template to view order details and provide necessary documents to patients.

Before documenting a standard visit, you can configure certain quick-access settings to some of the templates and features. The common configurations associated with some of the templates include the setup of task recipients, new links, links in the navigation bar, and reasons for visit.

Some common features in the standard visit template set are the Patient Information Card, panel controls, and links from the navigation bar.

Before documenting a gastroenterology patient encounter, you must get familiar with the features, functionalities, and common configurations available in the template set.
