You can add and review the allergies that a patient may have towards certain medications.
You must add the severity of the allergy in the Medication Allergies module. The severity reflects in the allergies grid under the Reaction (Severity) column.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Open the Intake - Cardiology template.
- Click the Allergies panel.
- On the Allergies template, do one of the following.
- If there are no known allergies for a patient, select No known allergies.
- If applicable, click the Comment link to open the Allergy Comments window.
- If there are allergies listed in the grid for the patient and if there is no new information to add, click Reviewed, no change.
Note: If Joint Commission standards have been enabled in the Practice Configuration practice template, allergy information always has to be documented after entering whether the patient is new or established, along with the Visit type, Historian, and Reason for Visit.
- If the patient had a new allergy since the last visit, click Add.
The Allergies template opens.
- To select a drug, do one of the following.
- Select a drug from Allergy to Class of Drug or Allergy to Specific Drug.
- To view additional drugs, click the A-H, I-S, or T-Z link and select a drug.
Note: When you select Antihistamines or Calcium Channel Blockers, a list of related drugs appears. Select a drug and select a reaction.
- Select a reaction, and click OK.
- Click Add Allergies.
The allergy has been added to the Allergies grid.
- Click Save & Close.
