You can document allergy details of a patient.
Before you begin
If the Joint Commission standards are enabled on the
Practice Configuration template, document allergy information after entering whether the patient is new or established along with the
Visit Type and
Historian. After documenting allergies, continue entering other details.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- On the Intake template, in the Allergies panel, select Add.
The age-specific allergies template opens.
- Select the applicable check boxes, and then select the associated reaction from the corresponding list.
- If the patient's allergy information is not available on the template, select Manage Allergies and document the allergy details.
- If you want to document the allergy severity and additional details, select Manage Allergies.
A message appears indicating to confirm if you want to add the selected allergy to the
Medication Allergies module.
Note: You must select
Yes, and document the additional details on the
Medication Allergies module, and close the module. For more information, go to

- If you want to add the allergy record without additional details, select Save & Close.
- To enter any additional information, select the Comment link.
Note: You must not enter patient allergies manually on the Allergy Comments template. You can document all the allergies on the age-specific allergies template.
