Create a User Source Task

You can create tasks manually by using the Add Task window. Note: The Task Subgrouping field(s) default from values assigned to Task type in File Maintenance. These fields are user-defined fields and likely will have a different name on your Add/Edit Task window. The label that displays for these Task Subgrouping fields are entered in Enterprise Preferences. The values for the fields that users can select are entered in the Task Subgroupings Master List in File Maintenance. The Task Subgrouping values enable users to categorize tasks into smaller, more manageable sub-groups. Access NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the Tasks menu, select Create Task. The Add Task window appears. The only field required by default is the Task Type field. You can set other fields to be required by the setting them up using the Tasks tab in Practice Preferences. Creating Tasks for NextGen® Enterprise

You can generate tasks to be sent to users in NextGen® Enterprise from within NextGen® Enterprise PM in the following areas: Patient Chart > Encounters tab: Right-click an encounter and select EHR Tasks from the menu. Patient Chart > Clinical History/Notes tab > Tasks topic: Right-click and select New EHR Tasks from the menu. Encounter Lookup: Right-click an encounter and select EHR Tasks from the menu. Tasks menu > Create EHR Task After the new task is sent to NextGen® Enterprise, it no longer displays in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The tasks can be viewed only within NextGen® Enterprise. NextGen® Enterprise PM Task

On the Add Task window, do the following: In the Task Type field, select the type of task to be created. This field is required. Note: The Task Types available for selection are those that are setup in File Maintenance with a Source Type of Chart. In the Status field, select the default of Not Started. In the Priority field, select one of the following: High Low Normal Note: A default priority may be defined in the Task Types master file in File Maintenance. In the Subject field, enter a free-text subject for the task. In the Assigned To field, do one of the following: Select one or more Users or Task Workgroups for the task. Press the Ctrl and M keys on the keyboard to assign the task to yourself. Note: A default assigned to may be defined in the Task Types master file in File Maintenance. Set Up Auto-Create Tasks for System-Level Claim Edits

You can setup a Task Type to automatically generate tasks when a system-level claim edit fails during the Claim Edits process or during the Billing process in NextGen® Enterprise PM. For system-level claim edit failures to auto-create tasks, one or both of the following options must be enabled in Enterprise Preferences on the General tab: Create tasks during claim edits Create tasks during billing process Access File Maintenance. Select System Master Files > PM > Tasks Types. The Task Types List window opens. Select the open menu button and select New. The Task Types window appears. In the Task Type field, enter a free-text description for the task. This field is required. In the Source Type field, select Encounter. This field is required. Tasking from the Threshold Tracking Report

Work log tasks can be manually created and assigned to users in batch mode from the Threshold Tracking report in NextGen® Enterprise PM. A task is created for each encounter listed on the report that does not already have an existing open task. The Task Types to be used with this encounter-based report must be set up in File Maintenance with the Source Type set to Encounter.
