Generating Auto Creation and Auto Completion Tasks

To prompt the system to generate the Auto Creation and Auto Completion of tasks, run the Task Update process each night. This process can be accessed in NextGen® Enterprise PM by selecting File > Processes > Task Update. CAUTION: You should run the Task Update process only during non-peak hours (such as at night) because the process requires a large amount of system resources and can impact all other users on the system.

Creating Tasks

Tasks can be created in three ways: Manually Automatically Mass generated from a report For more information on creating Task Types in File Maintenance, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the File Maintenance Master Files Guide for NextGen Enterprise. Create a User Source Task You can create tasks manually by using the Add Task window. Set Up Tasks for Auto Creation

You can set up tasks to be automatically generated based on the actions selected from a list. The list of actions is specific to each source type. To set up a task to automatically generate, perform the following steps: Open or set up new Task Types. Select the Open Menu button on the Task Types List and select New. Set up the task options on the Options tab as necessary. Select the Auto Creation tab. Enter a description of the task in the Task Type field. This field is required. If you want to assign a value to the task for reporting purposes, select the up and down arrows in the Task Value field. The higher the number, the more important the task is. This number ranks all of the tasks by source type. Therefore, if you have three tasks with a source type of encounter and they have task values of 1, 5, and 10, the task with a task value of 10 is more important than the tasks with values of 1 and 5. Set Up Automatic Task Completion for Clean Claims

You can set tasks that have an Encounter source type to be automatically completed when a clean claim (a claim with a status of Clean) is produced. If tasks have been generated by Auto Creation actions, then the tasks are immediately auto completed when the associated clean claim is created for the encounter. In File Maintenance, select Master Files - System > Task Types. Open a task type that has an Encounter source type. On the Auto Completion tab, select the Clean Claim Created action by selecting in the Activate column to the left of the action. A green check mark displays. Select OK.
