Create a New NextGen Mail Message

  1. From the main toolbar, select the Mailbox button.
    The NextGen Mailbox window appears.
  2. From the mailbox toolbar, select the New Message button.
    The New Message window appears.

    The Message tab displays two recipient fields: To NextGen and To Outlook.

    The field that is required is the one that is selected as the Default Mail Option in General User Preferences.

  3. Do one of the following:
    • In the To NextGen field, double-click <<Double-Click to Select Mail Recipient(s)>>.
    • From the message toolbar, select the Address button.
    The Address Book window appears.

  4. In the Show Users From field, select the desired Practice.
  5. Users, Security Groups, and Distribution Lists for the selected practice display.
  6. To select recipients for the message, do one of the following:
    • To add a recipient, select a User, Security Group, or Distribution List in the Available Users and Groups section on the left, and then select the Add button to move it to the Message Recipients section on the right.
    • To remove a recipient, select a User in the Message Recipients section on the right, and then select the Remove button to move it to the Available Users and Groups section on the left.
  7. To save changes and close the window, select OK.
    The New Message window displays the selected recipients in the To NextGen field.
  8. In the Subject field, enter a free-text subject for the mail message.
  9. In the blank section at the bottom of the window, enter free-text details for the body content of the mail message.
  10. You can set a priority for the mail message by selecting the Properties tab and select High or Normal. You can also select Read Receipt so that you receive a notification after the recipient has read the mail message.
  11. To send the mail message, select the Send Message button on the mailbox toolbar.
    The NextGen Mailbox window reappears.
  12. To view the message just sent, select the Sent Mail folder on the left.
    The message displays in the list on the right with To, Subject and Sent information.
