Configuring Patient Synchronization in NextGen® Enterprise PM

Patient synchronization sets a patient as active in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, NextGen® Enterprise PM, and NextGen® Optical Management. When you set a patient as active in NextGen® Optical Management, the same patient is automatically set as an active patient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM.

For example, assume John Smith is the active patient and the chart for John Smith is currently open in NextGen® Enterprise EHR or NextGen® Optical Management. When you access NextGen® Enterprise PM, the chart for John Smith automatically opens.

You can do the following when you have patient synchronization set up in user preferences:

  • Open a patient's chart in NextGen® Enterprise PM or NextGen® Optical Management.
  • Open NextGen® Enterprise PM by selecting PM on the main toolbar. NextGen® Enterprise PM opens and the chart for the same patient automatically opens.
