You can set archive and cache paths for storing all documents and images maintained by NextGen® Document Management.
For more information on NextGen® Document Management, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest User Guide for NextGen Document Management.
The table describes the different preferences that you can set for your practice.
Archive Path | Select a preconfigured location to store your images. Archive Path is the permanent storage location for all documents and images maintained by NextGen® Document Management. This path replaces the network share location when you activate remote scanning. All images scanned at a remote location are moved at regular intervals by the remote scanning network service from that location's temporary storage folder to the archive path.
The archive path must be located at the main site of the practice and must be accessible on the network to and from all remote storage locations. You must set up the path before NextGen® Document Management can save images to network storage locations. An application message appears if the archive path is not set up.

Cache Path | Select a preconfigured storage location to store your images.
The cache path is an additional storage location that you can set for documents and images maintained by NextGen® Document Management. You can use the cache path even if you are not licensed for remote scanning. When a cache path is set and you acquire an image for the first time that day, a new folder is created in the cache path, and a page of the image is added to the folder. As you navigate through additional images, new files are added to the cache path folder. The items in the cache path stay in that folder and are not moved to another location by the Remote Scanning Network Service. The speed of performance is improved if the cache path exists on the same network as the providers/users who are accessing NextGen® Document Management images.

Hard Delete Path | Select a preconfigured storage location to store your deleted images. The hard delete option makes an image inaccessible within NextGen® Document Management but allows an administrator or supervisor to review the deleted image and restore if necessary. |
Delete Refilled PAQ Entries | Select this option to delete the original Provider Approval Queue (PAQ) entry when a document with a PAQ entry is refilled. If you do not select this option, the status of the original PAQ updates to R (Rejected) when a document with a PAQ entry is refilled. The refilled PAQ entry can be deleted only when the document is refilled to a document type that does not require a signature and has not been accepted or rejected by the provider. |
Send Annotations With Image | Select this option to send annotations attached with an image while sending the image to a patient's account in NextGen® PxP Portal |
Duplicate Check | Select this option to display a message in NextGen® Document Management when users enter duplicate data while using the scan and file method. For this message to appear, you must also configure duplicate check for document types. |
