Printing Practice Preferences

The Printing Practice Preferences enables you to set printing defaults for documents that are used in NextGen® Enterprise PM. You can store printer settings at the practice level for NextGen documents and reports and for user-configured documents such as labels and forms. The settings include orientation, printer source, paper size, and number of copies. Each document type can have its own default printer setting. Instead of the users manually changing the print settings each time they print a different item, the default print settings are used for each document type being printed. Printer settings can also be set at the user level. The defaults set at the user level override the defaults at the practice level. If a user does not have user-level printer settings, the practice-level settings apply when the user prints a document. Note: Users can still change the settings at the time of printing. Imaging Archive Path

The Archive Path is the permanent storage location for all documents and images maintained by the NextGen® Document Management application. It differs from the Network Share Location in that it functions at the practice level rather than the enterprise level. The Archive Path replaces the Network Share Location when you activate remote scanning. When you use remote scanning, all images scanned at a remote location are moved at regular intervals by the Remote Scanning Network Service from that location's temporary storage folder to the Archive Path. The Archive Path must be: located at the main site of the practice. accessible on the network to and from all remote storage locations. set up before NextGen® Document Management can save images to network storage locations. The application displays error message if the Archive Path has not been set up. Note: Before you can assign a network folder to serve as the Archive Path, the folder must be identified as a storage location in NextGen® D

Set Up the Cache Path

Access the File Maintenance application and select Master Files > Document Management > Practices The Practices List window opens. Double-click on the Practice for which you want to set the Cache Path. The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select the Preferences button. The Practice Preferences window opens. Select the Imaging tab. Select one of the pre-configured storage locations listed in the drop-down menu of the Cache Path field. If the storage location you want to use is not listed, you must create it. Select OK on the bottom of the Practice Preferences window. Select OK on the Modify Practice Information window. Set Up Storage Locations

You can set up your storage locations for patient chart items. From File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > Storage Locations. The Storage Locations List window opens. To edit an existing storage location, double-click a Storage Name. To create a storage location, select open menu and select New. The Storage Location window opens. Enter the following information: In Storage Name, enter a name for the storage location. In the Storage Type section, select the File System option. In the File Storage section, enter the path of the storage location or select open folder to select a folder you want to use as the location. In the Application section, select the EHR option. In the Note field, enter comments on the storage location, if any. Either select Next to enter another storage location or select OK to exit the Storage Location window. Activate Searching for Documents or Images Across Practices

Open NextGen® Document Management. On the toolbar, select Admin, and then select Preferences > User. The Doc Mgmt tab opens in the User Preferences window. In the Search Options section, select Enable Enterprise Search. In the confirmation message, select whether you want all practices to be selected by default in the NextGen® Document Management image search lookup. Note: When no practice is selected, the logged on practice is selected by default. The Practice Defaults folder appears next to the Enable Enterprise Search option. Select the Practice Defaults folder. In the Practice Defaults window, select OK. To search for an image, on the toolbar, select Search. In the Image Lookup window, select the search criteria, and then select Find. The Matching Records grid displays all documents associated with the selected practices.
