Add CPT Codes Combinations for EM Psychotherapy Time Check

On the Data Sets Setup template, click Data Set and select EM psychotherapy. The existing data set items associated with the EM psychotherapy data set appear in the grid. EM psychotherapy data set Click Add. The Template Data Sets Setup – [New Record] template opens. Template Data Sets Setup If applicable, click Diagnosis description to search and select a diagnosis. The associated diagnosis code automatically populates. If applicable, click Provider and select a provider from Dbp Rendering Provider. In Codes, enter a CPT code (that is, either the psychotherapy code with the E&M code or the visit code). In Code Type, enter any indicator to differentiate a visit code from the psychotherapy with E&M code. For example, if you indicate the psychotherapy with E&M code as the 1st code, then you can indicate the visit code as the 2nd code. Click Save, and then click Close. Edit EM Psychotherapy Data Set Items

Click Update. The Template Data Sets Setup – [New Record] template opens. Make the necessary changes in the applicable fields. Click Save, and then click Close. Behavioral Health Billing on the Finalize Template

The Finalize template calculates the Evaluation and Management (E&M) code and submits the code to the NextGen® Enterprise PM application. The Evaluation and Management Coding panel on the Finalize template calculates the E&M code based on the elements documented or the amount of time documented when more than 50% of the visit is spent counseling and/or coordinating care. The system fills the Visit Code field with the suggested Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes. You should review the suggested CPT code prior to submitting the code for billing. When the practice selects the 97 Coding Guidelines option on the Practice Configuration practice template and the specialty is set to Behavioral Health, the system defaults to the '97 Single System Psychiatric exam guidelines for the following visit types: Family Consultation General Medical Exam Hospital Consult Medication Management without Psychotherapy Onsite Consult Psychotherapy - Individual with E&M Medication Management with Psych

Calculate the E&M Code under 95 or 97 Coding Guidelines

Before you begin You must configure the 95 or 97 Coding Guidelines selected on the Practice Configuration practice template. For more information on the 95 and 97 Coding Guidelines, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest E&M Coding User Guide for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. The '95 and '97 guidelines base the Evaluation and Management (E&M) code calculation on the selected Medical Decision Making (MDM) level and the documented history and physical exam elements or on the total visit time if more than 50 percent of the time was spent counseling or coordinating care. Open the Finalize - OPH template. If the patient was counseled, enter counseling and educational details and factors. Select the level of complexity associated with the encounter in the Medical Decision Making section. To calculate the code based on the total visit time, click the Total visit time (minutes) field, enter the total time in minutes, including counseling time, and click OK.

Finalize Documentation

The Finalize (BH) template enables you to view today's assessments, today's orders, enter counseling and/or interpreter information, submit E&M codes, or select the No Billing for Service checkbox. You use the Finalize (BH) template for billing of a psychiatric evaluation. You access the Finalize (BH) template by selecting EM Coding from the Psych Eval (BH) or Psych Prog Note (BH) template. From the Finalize (BH) template, you can view today's assessments, today's orders, enter counseling and interpreter detail information, submit E&M codes, or select the No Billing for Service checkbox. Not all the panels are required for NextGen® Behavioral Health Suite workflows. Several panels do require additional configuration. Note: If you need to make changes to the Specialty or Visit Type on the Finalize (BH) template, you must close the Finalize (BH) template and reopen to update the template. Submit E&M Code Under 97 Coding Guidelines

Before you begin You must configure the 97 Coding Guidelines selected on the Practice Configuration practice template. For more information on the 97 Coding Guidelines, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the E&M Coding User Guide for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Also, you must select an assessment in the Today’s Assessments panel to submit an E&M code. Open the Finalize template and then expand the Evaluation and Management Coding panel. Enter a start and end time. The duration calculates and displays in the corresponding field. When you enter a start and end time initially, the Time visit time (minutes) field updates with the same value. If you then edit the Time visit time (minutes) value and manually select an E&M code, the updated time overrides the original time entered.
