Test Results in NextGen PxP Portal

How do I turn on Test Results for patients on NextGen® PxP Portal?

You can turn on Test Results for your patients from the Manage Your Online Solutions page in Site Generator.

Are there any system dependencies for Test Results?

You must ensure the following for Test Results:
  • NextGen® Enterprise API version in API Suite Manager is 6.0.0.1363 or higher and the production Site ID (this is a GUID) is accurately populated in the Interface Settings tab for the practice.
  • The External ID for both the Site Generator Practice and Enterprise matches the Practice and Enterprise ID from the source system.

Are there any practice-facing workflow dependency for Test Results?

Test results are sourced by observation date/time and collection date/time from Order Module. The Obs. Date/Time and Coll. Date/Time are required fields in the Order Module template.

Do I have to pay for Test Results on NextGen® PxP Portal?

No, Test Results is available with the existing NextGen® PxP Portal license.

Are all test results displayed to patients on NextGen® PxP Portal?

When you turn on Test Results in Site Generator, all test results including the older test results from 30 days prior to the date of activation are sent to NextGen® PxP Portal. By default, only signed off test results are displayed on the Test Results page. If you wish to display all test results on NextGen® PxP Portal, you can turn off the Display only Signed off results option on the Test Results page in Site Generator.

How are the patients notified of the test results in NextGen® PxP Portal?

When test results are available in NextGen® PxP Portal, patients receive email notifications as well as SMS notifications by default. You can turn off the notifications from the Test Results page in Site Generator.

How frequently are test results sent to NextGen® PxP Portal?

Currently, the real time test results are sent to NextGen® PxP Portal everyday at 8 am EST. The historical test results are updated at 4 pm EST everyday.

What happens when the test results in NextGen® Enterprise are in partial status?

Test results in partial status are shared to patients in NextGen® PxP Portal. To share the final result, provider must sign off the order.

Is it recommended to send lab reports to patients from PAQ or patient chart?

Yes, it is a good practice to share the lab reports to patients as attachments with personalized message. This will give patients more information about their result interpretation and the next steps to be taken.

Will the test results be included in the patient health record?

Yes, the orders and test results will continue to be included in the health record of patients.

Are the test results available for all practices in an enterprise if Enterprise Chart is turned on in File Maintenance?

Yes, if Enterprise Chart is turned on in File Maintenance, the test results associated with all practices are available in NextGen® PxP Portal.

Will the test results marked as confidential be sent to NextGen® PxP Portal?

No, the test results marked as confidential are not sent to NextGen® PxP Portal.

Are Radiology test results included in the Test Results?

No, radiology test results are not displayed on the Test Results page currently.
