Treatment Section

The treatment grid shows therapies and education that you have documented for the patient. You can document therapies completed with the patient using any of the treatment templates in the left-hand list. The therapies documented on the templates are billable, with the exception of the Education template, which always shows a billable Total Time entry of zero. Additional Modalities Template

Use the Additional Modalities template to record the following modalities: Contrast Baths (97034) Paraffin Baths (97018) Mechanical Traction (97012) Whirlpool (97022) Biofeedback (Rehab Therapy 90901) Biofeedback (Women’s Health 90912 -first 15 minutes) Biofeedback (Women’s Health 90913 -additional 15 minutes) Infrared (97026) Cold Laser (S8948) Diathermy (97024) Taping – (various codes, based on reason and body part/location). Document Caregiver Education for Physical or Occupational Therapy

You can document the physical and occupational therapy training the patient's caregiver receives in the patient's absence. The patient or representative must have given consent for this training. The caregiver training information appears on the Office Visit document. Open a patient record, and then in Encounter History, expand a case and select an encounter. Open the NTS Homepage template associated with the encounter, and then select a PT or OT visit type. Open the NTS Single Visit template, and then expand the Objective panel. Under Treatment, select Education. The Education template opens in the NTS PT Treatment Edu window. Select Patient consented to caregiver training. Select the appropriate checkbox that describes whether the caregiver training is for an individual or a group. For individual caregiver training, enter the total minutes of training time in Min, and then enter any therapist assistant-led training time in Asst. PT/OT Modalities Skin Check Completed Checkbox

The Modalities template has a Skin Check Completed checkbox in the lower right. Skin Check Completed checkbox highlighted on Modalities template If you mark Required here, if therapist has documented that a modality has been completed (for example, Electrical Stimulation or Hot/Cold Therapy), the therapist cannot submit charges on that encounter until they mark the Skin Check Completed checkbox. If you select Not Required, marking the checkbox is optional. If you select Hidden, the Skin Check Completed checkbox will not appear on the Modalities template. Complete Billing for Procedure Items

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. In the Assessment panel on the PT Finalize template, select an assessment listed in the Encounter Diagnosis grid. To associate the diagnosis with a treatment, click the first available Dx code field in the row displaying the treatment.All Procedure rows displaying treatments that were performed automatically display the selected encounter diagnosis code under the Dx code field. This is done to eliminate the need to keep re-selecting the assessment and clicking in the Dx code field for the following treatment. Up to four diagnosis codes can be associated with a treatment procedure. If appropriate, click the treatment procedure’s first available Modifier field and select the modifier from the picklist.Up to three modifiers can be entered. Visit Time

You can document the visit time for patients using one of the following methods based on your practice configuration done in the Single Visit section on the Practice Config practice template. If the application is configured to use the start and end timestamps to calculate total time for the patient visit, a Start Time button and field appear at the top of the Single Visit template, and Start Time and End time buttons and fields appear at the bottom of the template. Start Time and End Time fields on the Single Visit template If the application is configured to use manually entered total time, the Total Active Visit Time field appears at the bottom of the template. Note: If you change the minutes in Total Active Visit Time on the Single Visit template, you must reopen Fee Sheet to ensure correct calculations and documentation for the encounter. If turned on, you can enter the evaluation or re-evaluation time in the Eval/Re-Eval field. The time entered in Eval/Re-Eval is not added to the
