Surgery Scheduling Worklog

Surgery schedulers and coordinators can track details of a surgery order from the Surgery Scheduling Worklog template. You can use the Surgery Scheduling Worklog template for tracking surgery order details such as surgery clearance, orders, and pre-operative tests. All surgery orders placed on the Surgery Sched template appear in the worklog grid. You must enter your search criteria in the Filters section to view surgery orders in the worklog grid. Surgery Scheduling Worklog template In the Filters section, you can enter the desired values in the fields to filter surgery orders in the worklog grid. The Launch Chart and Edit buttons are made available only after you select a record from the worklog grid. You can open the patient's chart by selecting a record and clicking Launch Chart. Surgery Scheduling Template

Use the Surgery Sched template to enter surgery-related information. The information can be entered by the clinical staff, but must be reviewed and signed off by a provider or surgeon. The Surgery Sched template has the following panels: Surgery Information Surgical Risk Index Pre-Surgical Checklist Medical Clearance Histories Insurance Lab/Testing Place Order Surgery Scheduling template Record the Surgery Date and Location Surgery Details of Patients You can document the surgery diagnosis, procedure codes, and surgery details prior to scheduling the surgery for a patient. Tracking Surgery Orders

You can track surgery orders, add coordinator notes, and generate various documents and patient letters on the Coordinator template. The Coordinator template is intended for surgery schedulers and coordinators, and it displays the surgery details documented on the Surgery Sched template. You can use the Coordinator template for tracking the schedule and clearance of surgeries. You can also generate surgery order documents and patient letters. Pre-Authorization for Surgeries

You can use the Pre Auth template to add and track the authorization details for scheduling the surgery of a patient. On the Pre Auth template, you can view the surgery order details and encounter-level insurance, enter pre-authorization details, and enter additional information of the patient for other surgery schedulers and coordinators. Pre-authorization template The following table describes the panels on the Pre Auth template. Panel Description Surgery Information You can view the details of the surgery order that is placed on the Surgery Sched template. The fields in this panel are read-only. Authorization You can add the pre-authorization details, and enter details for other surgery schedulers and coordinators in the Notes field. Insurance Information You can view the information from the encounter-level insurance. Scheduling and Boarding Information

You can verify the information added while scheduling the surgery and add the necessary tasks for the billing staff or providers. The Scheduling / Boarding Information panel enables the biller to set the tasks for the provider. It also enables the provider to set the tasks for the biller. You can enter the details in the Notes field and click the Task Billing or Task Provider icon to create a task for the provider or billing staff. Surgery Scheduling Workflow

The surgery scheduling workflow for NextGen® Orthopedic Suite begins on the Surgery Sched template. The information can be entered by clinical staff but must be reviewed and signed off by a provider or surgeon. You can use QuickPick to fill standard information for each surgery type and then add patient specific information. Note: Best practice recommends that you open the Surgery Sched template on its own encounter. Surgeries may be scheduled months in advance and this enables the coordinators to unlock the encounter without having to worry about changing documentation for a previous visit.
