Diagnosis/Procedure Information Panel

Procedures and diagnoses pull to the grids in the Diagnosis/Procedure Information panel from the Surgery Sched template. You can add additional procedures and diagnoses to the grids. Procedures and diagnoses entered from the Surgery Sched template cannot be removed, but do not have to be billed for, if not performed. Additional features in this panel include the following: Do not send to Histories– enables you to submit charges for the procedure(s) without sending the procedure(s) to the Orthopedic Surgical History grid. This would prevent providers from tying this procedure to a post-op visit. Submit to History- if you are awaiting sign off, but you want to enter the procedure in the Orthopedic Surgical History grid, click the Submit to History button. This sends the procedure to the Orthopedic Surgical History grid, so providers can tie it to a post-op visit prior to charges being submitted. When ready to submit charges, you can return to this template and click Submit to Superbill.

Reschedule Surgeries

On the Surgery Sched template, you can reschedule existing surgery orders. On the Surgery Sched template, expand the Place Order panel. Select the Reschedule check box. A message appears stating that you can reschedule the surgery order only once, and you cannot combine a revised order with a rescheduled order. Click OK. The Add New Task window opens. On the Surgery Sched template, a message appears next to the Reschedule check box stating that the surgery is rescheduled, and fields appear for the following: Documenting the reason for rescheduling the surgery order Creating tasks for the clinical staff, coordinator, physical therapy, or orthotics and prosthetics schedule Displaying your name, and date and time when the surgery is rescheduled Generating rescheduled surgery document Documenting new date of surgery and admit date Reshedule check box in the Place Order panel Assign a task to the desired user on the Add New Task window that opens. Document Details of Therapy Orders

You can document the details of therapy orders for orthopedic patients. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Single Order. Expand the Therapy panel. Select an option to indicate if the patient is referred internally or externally for therapy. Select the date of injury, and then select the necessary treatment. Optional: Select other appropriate checkboxes for the therapy order. Optional: In Other physician goals, enter any additional information. Optional: Enter the certification period for the therapy order. Enter the weekly frequency and additional details. Note: You can enter the weekly frequency and duration, or only the number of visits required for therapy. Selecting the Up to Therapist checkbox eliminates the need to enter the weekly frequency, duration, and number of visits. Place Surgery Orders

You can document the details of the surgery, and place surgery orders. On the Surgery Sched template, you can document the details in the following panels, and then place the surgery order in the Place Order panel. Surgery Information Surgical Risk Index Pre-Surgical Checklist Medical Clearance Histories Insurance Lab/Testing On the Surgery Sched template, expand the Place Order panel. Place Order panel on the Surgery Scheduling template If the surgery details are documented by a clinical staff, enter notes for coordinators in the Clinical Staff Notes field, as needed. Note: The notes added in this field are displayed in the Clinical Staff Notes field on the Coordinator template. To indicate that the preregistration is complete, select the Pre-Reg Complete check box. Note: The following fields are automatically filled with the details from the preregistration workflow templates. Cancel Surgeries

On the Surgery Sched template, you can cancel existing surgery orders. On the Surgery Sched template, expand the Place Order panel. Select the Cancel check box. The Add New Task window opens. On the Surgery Sched template, a message appears next to the Cancel check box stating that the surgery is canceled, and fields appear for the following: Documenting the reason for canceling the surgery order Assigning a task to the clinical staff Displaying your name, and date and time of the cancellation Generating canceled surgery document Cancel check box in the Place Order panel Assign a task to the desired user on the Add New Task window that opens. A picklist opens for selecting the reason. Select the reason for canceling the surgery order from the list. To assign a task to the clinical staff, click the icon. Surgery Coding Template

The final step for the surgery scheduling workflow is the Surgery Coding template. Here, billers can code and bill for the procedures performed. We recommended that you open a new encounter, drag the Surgery Sched template to the new encounter, then code and bill for the procedures on the Surgery Coding template. The Schedule/Boarding Information and Diagnosis/Procedure Information panels display all diagnoses and procedures entered from the Surgery Sched template. You can also add additional diagnoses or update the procedure if the performed procedure is different than the boarded procedure. Add Surgery Coding Biller You can add the person who does the billing for the procedures performed by the provider. Scheduling and Boarding Information You can verify the information added while scheduling the surgery and add the necessary tasks for the billing staff or providers.
