Once all encounter documentation is complete, charges are submitted, and all documents have been generated for CC’d providers, select the
Documents Processed
check box on the
Finalize Visit
template to lock the encounter.

Send a Task
The Finalize Visit template has a tasking section that you can use to communicate with users and assign tasks to users. You can also configure tasks that are automatically sent to clinical staff, billing, IT, providers, and transcription. Task icons on the Finalize Visit template On the Finalize Visit template, enter the Task Comments. Click the icon for the desired Task To group. Letters and Reports on the Finalize Visit Template
The Finalize Visit template has links to letters, office notes, and reports. The Radiology Report displays all non-X-ray orders that have been performed and interpreted on today's encounter. The X-ray Report displays all x-ray tests that have been performed and interpreted on today’s encounter on the Radiology Order Management template. There is also a Document Generation Log, carbon copy provider fields, Electronic Clinical Summary, and NextGen Portal Registration sections. You can click the report and letter icons to generate documents. The Electronic Clinical Summary and NextGen Portal Registration selections carry forward if entered on the Intake template. Indicating the Treatment as an Incident to a Previous Encounter
The Finalize Visit template contains a checkbox to help you indicate if today’s patient care is an incident to a plan or a diagnosis made on a previous patient encounter. You can select the Incident To check box to open the IORTS Incident to Plan template, which shows a filtered list of previous encounters. You can select an encounter to indicate that it is an incident to the today's treatment. Document Dictation Use in the Encounter
If dictation is configured for your practice, the Dictate button and No Dictation check box appear at the top of the Finalize Visit template. Note: For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Configuration Guide for NextGen® Orthopedic Suite. On the Finalize Visit template, click the Dictate button. The IORTSfinalize Po template opens. Finalize Visit checklist Select the appropriate check boxes that dictation was used from one of the following visit types: Billable Visits Non-Billable Visits Fracture Care Note: When dictation is used in the encounter, the office note does not automatically generate when you Submit the charges on the Finalize Visit template. Step Four of Correction Process
On the Step Four panel, you can generate the correct document, if documents have been generated for shared providers, and sign off that the documents have been processed. The documents processed step essentially closes the encounter. The system may auto-lock the encounter depending on the practice preferences. Finalizing a Patient Visit
You can enter a patient's visit details and today's diagnoses, and apply diagnosis codes to procedures to submit charges and finalize the visit. You can use the Finalize Visit template to do the following: Perform dictation Document the visit type and time Add or remove today's diagnoses Document carbon copies information Apply appropriate diagnosis codes to the procedures Submit charges Send the current encounter to the supervising provider Sign off as the supervising provider Generate letters and reports Lock the current encounter Finalize Visit template You can configure the following for the Finalize Visit template.
