Add a Medication

Click Add under the Medications grid. The Medications Module opens. On the Medications Module, click Prescribe New. The Medication Search window opens. Type the name in the Find field. As you type additional letters, the search is refined to match what you have entered. Double-click on the medication to add it to the Selected Medications grid. If the drug has any counter indications or interactions with other medications, or specifics of how it can be purchased or prescribed, a dialog box opens for you to acknowledge those. Once you have added all medications, click Select. This enters the medications in the Medications Module. Enter the Sig, Quantity, Refills, and Start date from the corresponding list. If applicable, select the Prescribed elsewhere check box. Click Accept. Click the X in the upper right of the window to close the Medications Module. Allergies

The Allergies panel enables you to add and review the allergy information associated with a patient. You can only add the allergy and its reaction on the Allergies panel; the severity level needs to be added from the Medication Allergies module. However, when the severity level is added in the Medication Allergies module and updated, the severity level in the allergies panel grid is displayed under the Reaction (Severity) column. From the module, for the same allergy, you could select multiple reactions and their respective severities. Allergies

You can manage patient allergy details of a patient. You can add and review the allergy details of a patient in the Allergies panel. The Allergies panel enables you to add and review the allergy information associated with a patient. If there are no known allergies for a patient, you can select No known allergies. Allergies Panel You can only add the allergy and its reaction in the Allergies panel. The severity level must be added from the Medication Allergies module. For an allergy record, you can select multiple reactions and their respective severity levels from the Medication Allergies module. You can view the intolerance details for the added allergies in theAllergiespanel if theIntolerancecheck box is selected on the Medication Allergies module. TheIntolerancecheck box indicates that the patient cannot tolerate the side effects of the medication. View Patient's Medication Allergies

Before you begin You must ensure that you have the View access right enabled in MODULES > Medical Records > Medications Allergies in System Administrator. For more information on user access rights, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise. You can view a quick list of the patient's active medication allergies to identify potential adverse drug reactions. You can also open the Medication Allergies module to add or update the patient's allergies. A total count of the patient's active allergies appears on the Allergies button on the Quick Buttons panel. Note: The icon indicates that the patient account does not have any active allergies records and the No Known Allergies check box in Medication Allergies is not selected. You can add and review the allergy details associated with a patient in the Allergies panel. You can add an allergy and its reaction on the Allergies panel. Review Patient Medication Allergy

In compliance with the requirements of the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT), NextGen® Enterprise EHR supports review of patient's medication allergies. Open the Medication Allergies module. The Medication Allergies module displays the current review status for all listed medication allergies. Select Review.
