Document Allergies for a Pediatric Patient

If the patient reports a new allergy since the last visit, you can document it in Allergies panel. Before you begin If the Joint Commission standards are enabled on the Practice Configuration template, document the allergy details after entering whether the patient is new or established along with the Visit Type and Historian. After documenting allergies, continue entering other details. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Intake template. In the Allergies panel, click Add. The Peds Allergies template opens. Select the applicable checkboxes, and then select the associated reaction from the corresponding list. To add allergy, do one of the following: To document the allergy severity and additional details, click Manage Allergies. A message appears indicating to confirm if you want to add the selected allergy to the Medication Allergies module. Click Yes. Document New Allergies for a Patient

Allergies

You can manage patient allergy details of a patient. You can add and review the allergy details of a patient in the Allergies panel. The Allergies panel allows you to add and review the allergy information associated with a patient. If there are no known allergies for a patient, you can select No known allergies. Allergies Panel You can only add the allergy and its reaction in the Allergies panel. The severity level must be added from the Medication Allergies module. For an allergy record, you can select multiple reactions and their respective severity levels from the Medication Allergies module. You can view the intolerance details for the added allergies in the Allergies panel if the Intolerance checkbox is selected on the Medication Allergies module. The Intolerance checkbox indicates that the patient cannot tolerate the side effects of the medication. View Who Changed a Medication Allergy

Each time someone creates or modifies a patient's medication allergies, the application records who made the change and when it was done. You can view who created and last modified a patient's medication allergies. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. Select an existing encounter from the Encounter History tab or create an encounter. To open the Medication Allergies module, select Allergies from the Quick Buttons panel. The Medication Allergies module opens and displays the items that the patient is allergic to. Medication Allergies Module Select a medication allergy. Right-click the medication allergy and select Who/When.The Modification Information window displays with the name of the person who entered the allergy into the patient chart, and the name of the person who last modified the selected allergy. Review Patient Medication Allergy

In compliance with the requirements of the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT), NextGen® Enterprise EHR supports review of patient's medication allergies. Open the Medication Allergies module. The Medication Allergies module displays the current review status for all listed medication allergies. Select Review. NextGen® Enterprise EHR displays the name of the person who reviewed all listed allergies and lists the date and time of the most current allergy review. Parent topic: Medication Allergies Module
