Fields Used by the Ophthalmology Diagnostic Tests Setup Data Set

Each of the diagnostic tests configured in the Ophthalmology diagnostic tests data set has specific information to be set up. Field Name Description Test description The Test description field is used to display and edit the test description. The selection made from the Procedure opened from the Billing/Test code field appears in this field automatically. Clicking this field opens the Procedures template. The description can be edited as needed. Billing/Test code The Billing/Test code contains the procedure code for the test. Clicking this field opens the Procedures template. Configuring Ophthalmology Diagnostic Tests

After you have reviewed the diagnostic tests already set up for Ophthalmology, you can make changes to update existing tests or adding new tests. Before you add new tests to the Ophthalmology diagnostic tests data set, it is recommended that you first review test categories in the oph_dx_setup_category custom DB picklist, and if appropriate, add any new categories. Packaged diagnostic tests are indicated with the value NG in the Edit field/column. For these diagnostic tests, you are able to modify and update test codes and test types, but the category remains the same. These pre-defined test categories have been locked down and cannot be changed because they are involved in behind the scenes processes related to triggers, stored procedures, and billing. CAUTION: Instead of editing a record with the NG edit type, it is best practice to create a copy and add a new record with the changes you want and then set the original NG record to Hide on the test ordering template so it does not dis

Custom DB picklists have specific information that is required. The following fields are required by the Ophthalmology Diagnostic Test Setup Category DB picklist. Field Description Qualifier 1 Qualifier 1 should contain the category for the test, in the format ng_testname. List Item List Item should contain the test name choices to display in the list. Review and Update the Custom DB Picklist Used by Ophthalmology Diagnostic Tests

On the Custom DB Picklists system template, in the Step 1 section at the top of the template, locate and select the DB picklist oph_dx_setup_category in the grid. In the Step 2 section, select the option Show selected DBPicklist (above) found above the grid. The Step 2 section grid displays items found in the DB picklist selected in the Step 1 section grid at the top of the template. Each item in the DB picklist displays on a row in the grid. custom db picklist system template In the Step 2 grid, highlight the row in the grid that displays the item to be reviewed. The edit fields below the grid in the Step 2 section display details for the row. Review all items found in the DB picklist. Ophthalmology Diagnostic Tests Setup Data Set

The Oph diagnostic tests data set manages records that control how certain diagnostic tests used by Ophthalmology are processed. These data set records control billing options, how records are sent to the Orders module, computerized provider order entry (CPOE), and if they are displayed on the test ordering template. Each row in the grid represents a single diagnostic test. The following shows the diagnostic test information contained in the Oph diagnostic tests data set as it appears on the Order Tests – OPH template in the Select tests section. Up to 40 tests display. Tests performed today and tests to be performed in the future can be ordered from the Order Tests – OPH template. Tests that are ordered are saved to the order_table and they can be uploaded to the Orders module. Update an Existing Test in the Ophthalmology Diagnostic Tests Data Set

Click the Data Set field and select Oph diagnostic tests from the DB picklist. The grid refreshes to display existing items in the Oph diagnostic tests data set. Highlight the row in the Data Sets grid to be updated, and click Update. The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template opens and details for the highlighted test appear in the edit fields above the grid. You can also select a test directly on the Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template. To make changes to Test type: Click the field, and select from the Procedures search window. The selected procedure fills the Test type field and its code automatically fills the Billing/Test code field. To enter a test that is not found with the Procedures search window, click Cancel to close and type in a test description.
