Update an Existing Test in the Ophthalmology Diagnostic Tests Data Set
- Click the Data Set field and select Oph diagnostic tests from the DB picklist.
The grid refreshes to display existing items in the Oph diagnostic tests data set.
- Highlight the row in the Data Sets grid to be updated, and click Update.
The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template opens and details for the highlighted test appear in the edit fields above the grid. You can also select a test directly on the Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template.
- To make changes to Test type:
- Click the field, and select from the Procedures search window.
The selected procedure fills the Test type field and its code automatically fills the Billing/Test code field.
- To enter a test that is not found with the Procedures search window, click Cancel to close and type in a test description.
If the Test type edit field already has a value, this value can be edited using free text.
- Click the field, and select from the Procedures search window.
- To make changes to the Billing/Test code:
- Click the field and select from the Procedures search window.
The selected procedure automatically populates the Billing/Test code field and its description automatically populates the Test type field.
- To select a billing test code not found in the Procedures search window, click Cancel to close and type in the test code.
- Click the field and select from the Procedures search window.
- To make changes to Order module code, click the field, scroll down and select a test name from the DB picklist.
Selecting a test name causes the Order module code field to display the code associated with the test. This is the code that is used when you send the test order to the Order module.
- To locate a test more quickly, type the first few letters of the test name on the list.
Note: Before doing this step, the Order module code for the diagnostic test must first be set up in File Maintenance. For more information about configuring Order module codes in File Maintenance, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the File Maintenance Master Files Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. - To select a different category, click the Category field and select from the DB picklist.
(This is a custom DB picklist that is maintained on the Custom DB Picklists system template.)
- The Edit field is read-only and automatically contains the value U when you begin to make changes and add a new test to the data set; otherwise, it has the value NG.
- If the Edit field displays NG, you will not be able to change the category. The Test type and Billing/Test code fields can be updated to display edited values. To select a different category, you must hide the original and create a copy of the diagnostic test.
- If the Edit field displays U, you can select a different category.
The Billing/Test code and Test type values you previously updated remain.
- Select a Billing type: Bilateral, Unilateral, or Not billable
- Select the vendor and vendor ID by clicking the Vendor field and selecting a value from the DB picklist.
The Vendor field displays the selected vendor name and the ID field automatically displays the ID code associated with the vendor. A vendor and vendor ID is required when you select the Send to module check box.
- Select other options for the test:
- Send to module
- Computerized provider order entry
- Use TC and 26 modifiers
- To hide the diagnostic test on the Order Tests – OPH template, select the Hide on test ordering popup check box.
- Click Update.
The grid refreshes and the updated details appear in the row for the test. The edit fields are cleared.
- Click Close.
The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template closes, and you return to the Data Sets Setup practice template.
