Complete the Ophthalmology Provider Workflow

For most office visit encounters in general Ophthalmology, the following is a basic outline of the workflow for the provider portion of the visit. To review historical information of the patient, go to the Home Page – OPH template. Go to the Provider – OPH template to document the provider's portion of the encounter. Note: For certain encounters, there are specific single-page visit templates, such as Postoperative Exam – OPH. Select the Provider Summary link to review patient information for today's encounter. Select the Eye Summary link to view current and historical patient findings in a grid. Expand the General panel to review general patient information, the Health Monitor, and Internal Physician Notes. Expand the Orders panel to review, update, and add orders. Expand the Medications panel to review or update medications and perform medication reconciliation, if appropriate. Provider Summary for Ophthalmic Providers

The Provider Summary link appears on the Provider tab and opens the Provider Summary - OPH template. General Panel for Providers

Providers can review vision correction, health monitor dates, and the date of the patient's first encounter date in the General panel on the Provider tab. general panel Health Monitor Internal Physician Notes Review the Patient's Chart Summary Ophthalmic providers can review a summary of the patient's medical history on the Chart Summary. Enter Assessments for Today's Visit

Assessments can be added to Today's Assessments in several ways, including by selecting from the patient's clinical problems or diagnosis history, the provider's list of favorite assessments, the Common Assessments template, or the diagnosis search window. New assessments can be added to various lists for the patient or the provider's My Favorites list, and they can be sorted to display in a preferred order. If a technician is acting as a scribe for the provider, select a name from the Scribe field. Review Today's Concern/Reason For Visit. Select an assessment from the grids in the following areas to add it to the Today's Assessment grid. Document the Impression

On the Assessment/Plan - OPH template, go to the Impression section. impressions section To review findings from today's encounter, do the following: Click the Eye Summary link in the Impression section. Review the patient's information and click Close. Click an assessment in the Today’s Assessments. The selected assessment displays in the Impression section. In the Impression section, enter the side and status. Information can also be entered for the following by clicking the corresponding link: Conditions Symptoms Vision Information entered for Condition, Symptoms, and Vision appear in the Impression Details field. Enter any additional information in the Impression Details field or click My Phrases. Review Today's Assessments

Ophthalmic providers can review previously documented diagnoses/assessments that were selected for the patient for this encounter listed in the Today's Assessments grid in the Diagnosis panel on the Finalize - OPH template. CAUTION: A diagnosis added or modified on the Finalize - OPH template does not appear in the Impression/Plan Summary grid. However, it appears in the Diagnosis History and in the Chart Note. Best practices recommend that the provider add and update assessment on the Assessment/Plan - OPH template so that they are listed in the Impression/Plan grids and can be associated with plan details. impression/plan grid Parent topic: Finalize Tab for Ophthalmic Providers
