Checkout Workflow

In NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, patient checkout is the final step in documenting a patient encounter.

The purpose of the Checkout template is to end the patient encounter by reviewing all orders and instructions, scheduling appointments and/or follow-up visits, and printing requisitions and instructions to give to the patient.

The Checkout template has the following panels:

  • Today’s Orders
  • Patient Education
  • Given to Patient/Verified

Checkout can be completed by office staff or the technician depending on the practice. In this document, we use the term “Checkout Staff” to refer to the individual whose role it is to check out the patient at the end of the encounter before the patient leaves.
