Issuing Patient Education Documents

The Patient Education panel contains the education documents of a patient that are added to the patient's chart. You can print education documents for a patient by printing them or send the documents to the patient's NextGen® PxP Portal account. When you save a patient education document to an encounter, NextGen® Enterprise EHR moves the document to the Patient Education grid in the Today’s Order panel. Edit Patient Education Documents The Patient Education grid in the Today's Orders panel displays the patient education documents that are added to a patient encounter. Make Education Documents Available to Patients Create Patient Plan Summary Documents You can create a patient plan summary on the Checkout template. Update Check out Statuses of Patients After you complete the patient's checkout process, you can update the status on the Todays Patient Tracking template. Overview of the Checkout Staff Workflow

You can review and generate documents of a patient's checkout process. After completing the intake staff and provider workflow, the front office staff initiates and completes the patient checkout process on the Checkout template to do the following: Review and/or process all orders. Generate lab and/or radiology requisitions, if needed. Generate referral documents, if needed. Schedule future appointments as ordered. Generate the Patient Plan and Checkout documents, if needed. Viewing Template Links on the Checkout Template You can customize the links to meet your needs on the Checkout template. Open the Follow-up or Disposition Template You can document the follow-up details for a patient using the Follow-up/Disposition template. Managing Today's Orders You can process lab or radiology orders documented by the provider on the My Plan template. Cardiology Office Visit and Virtual Visit

You can document a patient’s visit to a Cardiology specialty using several workflows. A Cardiology visit consists of office and virtual visits. Note: The instructions provided for office visit in the following sections are also applicable for virtual visits. The Cardiology office and virtual visit workflow includes the following: Intake staff workflow provides instructions for nurses or medical assistants on how to use the Intake and Histories templates to document the reasons for visit, medication, allergies, social history, and so on. Provider workflow provides instructions for physicians on how to use the SOAP and Finalize templates to document assessment and physical exam details, generate evaluation, management codes, and so on. Checkout staff workflow provides instructions for front desk employees on how to use the Checkout template to view order details and provide necessary documents to patients. Cardiology User Guide

You can document the Cardiology visits on the following templates: Intake Histories SOAP Finalize Checkout Intake Staff Workflow The intake staff, such as a nurse or technician, can use the Intake template to document patient encounter workflow. The intake staff opens the visit by checking the patient in, using the Intake template. The intake staff can review the patient's details documented in the previous encounters on the Home Page template. Histories Workflow After documenting the details on the Intake template, the nurse can document the medical history of the patient on the Histories template. Provider Workflow After the nurse documents the intake and medical details, the provider can document assessments and findings, and submit the codes for billing. The provider can review the patient's historical information documented in the previous encounters on the Home Page template or review the Intake Note document generated by the intake staff. You can document the patient specific information on the Intake – Cardiology template, and then direct the patient to the provider for further assessment and diagnosis. The Intake - Cardiology template contains the following sections. General Reason for Visit History Summary Vital Signs Medications Allergies Cardiac Orders Orders Review of Systems Document General Information After reviewing the available patient details on the Home Page template, you can document the general information of a patient in the General panel. Reasons for Visit The Reason for Visit appears on the left pane of the Intake-Cardiology template. You can customize the list by specialty or by provider. Document Vital Signs You can document the vital signs of a patient from the Vital Signs panel of the Intake - Cardiology template. Cardiology Provider Workflow

Provider reviews the patient's summary on the Home Page and proceeds to the SOAP and the Finalize templates. The provider workflow consists of the following: Reviewing the data documented up to this point in the encounter to obtain an overview of the patient's condition. Documenting the patient's reason for visit, vital signs, physical exam, diagnosis, assessment and plan, and cardiac orders on the SOAP template. Documenting the procedures performed.
