Check In the Transferred Medications

Medications transferred to a location do not go directly to the location’s inventory. They appear in the grid under the Transfer Information panel from where you can check in the medications to inventory, return the medications to original location, or waste the medications. On the MICS Inventory Management system template, expand the Transfer information panel. Select the required medication from the grid. The received quantity appears in the Quantity Received field. Optional: To check in the partial quantity, enter the required quantity in the Quantity Received field. Enter your comments in the Check In Comments field, and select Check In. The medication is added to your inventory and available to be dispensed or administered to patients. Note: If you check in the partial quantity, the status for remaining quantity is set to Discrepancy. You can either waste or return the remaining quantity. Parent topic: Transfer Information Panel

Waste a Transferred Medication

You can waste the medications that are transferred to your location from another location of your practice. You can either waste full or partial quantity. On the MICS Inventory Management system template, expand the Transfer information panel. Select the required medication from the grid. The received quantity appears in the Quantity Received field. Optional: To waste the partial quantity, enter the required quantity in the Quantity Received field. Select a reason for waste in the Reason for Waste field. Select Waste. The medication is checked into inventory and wasted. Note: If you waste the partial quantity, the status for remaining quantity is set to Discrepancy. Transfer Medications

You can transfer non-vaccine medications between inventories of different locations. On the Inventory Management template, expand the Medication Inventory panel. Select the Transfer option below the medication grid. The Transfer Information panel opens. In the Medication Inventory panel, select the medication to be transferred. The details for selected medication appear in the corresponding fields in the Transfer Information panel. In the Transfer Information panel, select the required details in the following fields: Quantity Transfer To Location Mode of Transfer The Transfer button is enabled. Transfer Information Panel

Use the Transfer Information panel to transfer medications from one inventory to another. Transferred medications appear in a holding grid where you can check them into inventory, return the medication, or waste the medication. Transfer Medications You can transfer non-vaccine medications between inventories of different locations. Adding General Information for Dispensed Medications

You can add general information for documenting dispensed medications on the MICS Dispensing template. The following table describes the fields on the MICS Dispensing template, which are used to add general information for dispensed medications. Field Description Prepared by You can click this field, and select the preparer of the injection from the providers window. Specialty You can click the field, and select an appropriate specialty from the specialty window. After you enter the specialty, the selected value is defaulted in the Specialty field on the following templates of the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control, and the Specialty field becomes read-only. MICS Imms MICS Injections/Aspirations MICS Med Management Sub-Location You can click this field, and select the sub-location for dispensing medications. If you are dispensing medications from multiple sub-locations, you can change the sub-location, as needed. This field appears only if it is configured in the Sub-Location(s) & P

Mark Medications as Waste Using MICS Med Management

You can mark medications as waste and take them out of the inventory using the MICS Med Management template. Open the MICS Med Management template. Select the prescribed or ordered medication in the Medication Management panel. The details appear in the Manage Selected Medication section. If sub locations are enabled, select the sub location the medication is pulled from. Enter the details of the medication manually or using the bar code. If more than one unit is being dispensed or administered today, click the Rx Quantity field, and change the quantity. Select Clear All. A message appears prompting you to confirm that you want to waste this medication. Select Yes. Note: Selecting No clears the fields. The MLTS RFW picklist appears. Select the reason, and click OK. The medication details are removed, the medication is marked as wasted, and the medication is taken out of the inventory. Parent topic: Managing Medications
