You must program the scanner because 2D barcodes terminate variable length data contained in the translated barcode with a “group separator” sequence that the scanner passes as a hexadecimal x1D. Programming the scanner replaces the hexadecimal character x1D with hexadecimal character x23. To scan 2D barcodes, your scanner must: Support scanning of GS1 Datamatrix 2D barcodes. Allow for substitution of a scanned code for another code when transmitting. Program Honeywell 1400g2D Scanner

You need to scan several barcodes in sequence to program the scanner. These barcodes represent individual numbers, letters, and functions. Scan the following barcode to put the scannner in the programming mode. Using the programming chart, scan the barcodes corresponding to following numbers in the given sequence. 0, 0, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, E, 4, 0, 2, 1, D, 2, 3, F, 7, E, 9, 0, and 0 Scan the following barcode to save the configurations done earlier. Configuring Barcodes

You can configure and print medication barcodes used for documenting the dispensing and administration of medications to a patient on the Barcode Configuration system template. When medications are entered into inventory, the system assigns a unique barcode number to each medication. Each medical record template has a Scan Barcode button that enables you to scan the barcode to enter the medication information. Print Patient Photos

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup Chart Lookup icon. The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and select Find. Patient records that match the search criteria appear in the Matching Records section. Select the patient, and then select Open. The Patient Chart window opens. In the Chart Details tab, select open menu Open Menu icon and then select Open. The Scanning Device Input window opens. Configure Barcode Labels

You can configure the settings that your barcode printer uses while printing barcode labels using the Barcode Label Configuration master file. For more information on barcode labels, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Barcode Label Reference Guide for NextGen® Optical Management. In File Maintenance, from the Master Files > Optical Management list, select Barcode Label Configuration. The Barcode Label Configuration List window opens. From the list, do one of the following: To add a new item, select the open menu button and select New. To modify an item, double-click the item to open it. The Barcode Label Configuration window opens. On the Label Defaults tab, complete the following fields: In Name, enter a name for the configuration. In Heat Level, select a setting. This setting controls the temperature the barcode printer uses to print barcodes. In Printer, select the barcode printer from the list. In Default Label, select this check box if you want the

Print Barcode Form Templates

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Open a patient chart, and then select the Encounters tab. Right-click an encounter, and then select Print > Forms. The Print Forms window opens. In Template, select the form template that you have set up as a separator sheet. In Master File, select Document Types. Select the document type master file you want to associate with the System Master File Text data field on the form template. When you scan the separator sheet with barcodes, the File menu in NextGen® Document Management displays the selected document type and the fields associated with it. Note: The document type that you assign when printing the form template must have an MRN field that is set for automatic search. Select Print. Note: To use the barcode engine, activate it in the User Preferences window and then use the Scan & File feature.
