Medication Information Configuration

Use the Medication Information Configuration panel to view and add all billable and non-billable medications that are used throughout the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control. Medications added here are the only ones you can add to inventory or configure settings for. Note: The grid in the Medication Information Configuration panel is for non-immunization medications. Use the Immunization Configuration template for vaccines/immunizations. Filter Medication Information Add a Billable Medication You can add billable medications to the inventory. Configuring Medication Information and Billing Rules

You can configure billing information for medications dispensed or administered and radiology tests done in your practice. You can do the following configurations on the Medication & Billing Configuration system template: Configure where the submitted charges need to be sent for each specialty. Configure the user groups for dispensing or administering on the fly medications. Configure medications as billable or non-billable in the Medication Information Configuration panel. Configure billing rules for medications as per financial class and payers in the Medication Billing Rules panel. Configure billing rules for radiology tests in the Radiology Billing Rules panel. Manage Billing for Specialties You can add, update, and delete billing configurations for various specialties. Adding On The Fly Medications in the Inventory

You can add medications to the inventory for dispensing or administration using "Add Med on the Fly link" on the medical record templates. Note: The medications being added in the inventory from medical record templates must exist in the Medication & Billing Configuration system template. You can add medications in the inventory using Add Med on the Fly link on the following places in the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control based on your requirements: Procedure Type panels on the MICS Injections/Aspirations template. Injection 1 and Injection 2 panels on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. Medication Dispensing and Medication Dispensing and Administration panel on the MICS Dispensing template. Manage Selected Medication section on the MICS Med Management template. You can view the medications added in the inventory from medical record templates in the Medication Inventory panel on the Inventory Management system template. Parent topic: General Information

Managing Medications

You can document the dispensing and administration details of ordered medications on the MICS Med Management template. You can use the MICS Med Management template to document the dispensing and administration details of medications that are ordered from the Medications module and Office Procedures core template. You can also waste medications, and keep a track of medications that are prescribed and filled in-house. Before you start documenting the details in the Medication Management panel, you must enter the specialty in the Specialty field. After you enter the specialty, the selected value is defaulted in the Specialty field on the following templates of the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control, and the Specialty field becomes read-only. Using NextGen® Medication Inventory Control

You can use the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control medical record templates to document the administration and dispensing of medications from your configured inventory. Documenting Dispensed Medications You can document medications that are dispensed and administered to the patient on the MICS Dispensing template.
