The NextGen® Medication Inventory Control application has the following medical record templates. Medical Record Template Use MICS Imms To order vaccines and document immunization information MICS Injections/Aspirations To document joint injections or aspirations for the encounter MICS MedAdmin OPH To document ophthalmology injections MICS Med Management To dispense or administer medications that have been ordered from the Medication Module and/or the Office Procedures template, and to keep track of prescriptions prescribed and filled in-house. This chapter contains general information on using the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control application. You can also use phrases available for other users or system set phrases available for all users. Panel Controls You can expand or collapse all the panels and change the order of panels on a template. Using NextGen® Medication Inventory Control

You can use the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control medical record templates to document the administration and dispensing of medications from your configured inventory. Documenting Dispensed Medications You can document medications that are dispensed and administered to the patient on the MICS Dispensing template. General Information Ordering and Administering Immunizations You can order vaccines, and document immunization information on the MICS Immunizations template. Documenting Injections and Aspirations You can document joint injections and aspirations for a patient. Documenting Ophthalmology Injections You can document ophthalmology injection procedures for a patient on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. Managing Medications You can document the dispensing and administration details of ordered medications on the MICS Med Management template.

Manage User Groups to Document On the Fly Medications

You can manage the permission for users who can document on the fly medications dispensed or administered on the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control medical records template. On the fly medications are the medications that are not added through MICS Inventory Management system template but are available on the Medication & Billing Configuration system template. For example, medications brought by patients or directly received from the in-house pharmacy of your practice. On the Medication & Billing Configuration template, go to Security Group Configuration for "On The Fly" Access grid. In the field below the Security Group column, select the desired user group. To enable the users from selected user group to add billable medications on the fly, select the Billable check box. To enable the users from selected user group to add non-billable medications on the fly, select the Non-Billable check box. Select Add . Update. Managing Medications

You can document the dispensing and administration details of ordered medications on the MICS Med Management template. You can use the MICS Med Management template to document the dispensing and administration details of medications that are ordered from the Medications module and Office Procedures core template. You can also waste medications, and keep a track of medications that are prescribed and filled in-house. Before you start documenting the details in the Medication Management panel, you must enter the specialty in the Specialty field. After you enter the specialty, the selected value is defaulted in the Specialty field on the following templates of the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control, and the Specialty field becomes read-only. Document On the Fly Medication Dispensing

Before you begin You must configure the permission to add medications on the fly, for your user group in the Medication & Billing Configuration system template. Open the MICS Dispensing template. On the Medication Dispensing panel, select Add Med on the Fly link. The MLTS MedConfig Add PU window opens. Select the Procedure Type as Injection. Select the Add Med on the Fly link. The MLTS MedConfig Add PU window opens. Select the sub-location, if turned on. Select if the medication is billable or non-billable. From the Source field, select the source of medication. The Med Config: Drug Names picklist opens. Select a medication from the Drug Name field. The MLTS LotTrack Manuf Drug PL picklist opens. Select the manufacturer in the Manufacturer field. The NDC, JCode, and unit type are filled in the corresponding fields. Enter the lot number and expiration date in the corresponding fields, and then select Add.
