Document Waste Medications
You can waste medications for any reason from the
MICS MedAdmin OPH
template.
Wasted medications are marked as waste and removed from the inventory.
Note:
You must select a
Sub-location
, If sub-locations are turned on for your practice.
Open the
MICS MedAdmin OPH
template, and then do one of the following:
To document the right-eye-injection procedure, expand the
OD Injection
panel.
To document the left-eye-injection procedure, expand the
OS Injection
panel.
In the
Medications
section, enter the details of wasted medication.
Select
Clear
corresponding to the wasted medication.
A message opens for you to confirm the medication waste.
Select
Yes
.
The number pad opens to select the waste quantity.
Select the waste quantity and then select
OK
.
The
MLT RFWpicklist
window opens.
Select the reason for wasting the medication and select
OK
.
Select
Waste Medication
.
The medication line clears, the medication is marked as wasted, and the medication is removed from the inventory.

Document Eye Injections Using QuickPicks
You can document procedure and medication details for eye injections using QuickPicks that you built and saved previously. Note: You must select a Sub-location, If sub-locations are turned on for your practice. Open the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. To open the rendering provider’s QuickPicks, select star , or to open System Sets and other providers’ QuickPicks, select double-star. A picklist opens, displaying available QuickPicks. Select a QuickPick from the list, and then select OK. The information appears into the fields of the panels as it was saved, with the Lot # field saying Required. Injection panel on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template In the Lot # field, select lot number for medications. The expiration date automatically appear in Expiration Date. The DUR check window opens, displaying all the possible interactions for the selected medicine. Select the interactions you want to acknowledge, enter the reason, and select Acknowledge. Document Procedure Information for Eye Injections
Note: The picklists for many of the fields open sequentially on selecting a value in the previous field. However, you can change your selection in any of the fields by selecting another value. Open the MICS MedAdmin OPH template, and then do one of the following: To document the right-eye-injection procedure, expand the OD Injection panel. To document the left-eye-injection procedure, expand the OS Injection panel. Injection panel on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template In Admin Type, select the type of injection. The CPT details automatically appear based on the admin type selected. In Med. Necessity, select the reason for the injection procedure. Select a category. To associate a diagnosis code with the procedure, select a diagnosis. Note: If you use NextGen® Orthopedic Suite, you must not enter diagnosis codes in the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. Documenting Eye Injections
You can document procedure and medication information for eye injection procedures in the OD Injection and OS Injection panels on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. You can document the medication information for up to two medications for an eye injection. You can also document patient's response for the documented injection in the Patient Response section. Document Medication Details Manually
You can document medication details for an eye injection procedure manually. The picklists for many of the fields open sequentially on selecting a value in the previous field. Mark Medications as Waste Using MICS Med Management
You can mark medications as waste and take them out of the inventory using the MICS Med Management template. Open the MICS Med Management template. Select the prescribed or ordered medication in the Medication Management panel. The details appear in the Manage Selected Medication section. If sub locations are enabled, select the sub location the medication is pulled from. Enter the details of the medication manually or using the bar code. If more than one unit is being dispensed or administered today, click the Rx Quantity field, and change the quantity. Select Clear All. A message appears prompting you to confirm that you want to waste this medication. Select Yes. Note: Selecting No clears the fields. The MLTS RFW picklist appears. Select the reason, and click OK. The medication details are removed, the medication is marked as wasted, and the medication is taken out of the inventory. Parent topic: Managing Medications

Document Medication Details by Scanning Barcode
You can document medication details for an eye injection procedure by scanning the barcode printed on the medication package. Note: You must select a Sub-location, If sub-locations are turned on for your practice. Open the MICS MedAdmin OPH template, and then do one of the following: To document the right-eye-injection procedure, expand the OD Injection panel. To document the left-eye-injection procedure, expand the OS Injection panel. Injection panel on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template Select Scan Barcode. Scan the medication barcode printed on the medication package. Note: If the inventory contains multiple medications matching the scanned barcode in the inventory, a list of medications appears, where for you tocan select the requirednecessary medication.
