Document Waste Medications

You can waste medications for any reason from the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. Wasted medications are marked as waste and removed from the inventory. Note: You must select a Sub-location, If sub-locations are turned on for your practice. Open the MICS MedAdmin OPH template, and then do one of the following: To document the right-eye-injection procedure, expand the OD Injection panel. Document Procedure Information for Eye Injections

Note: The picklists for many of the fields open sequentially on selecting a value in the previous field. However, you can change your selection in any of the fields by selecting another value. Open the MICS MedAdmin OPH template, and then do one of the following: To document the right-eye-injection procedure, expand the OD Injection panel. To document the left-eye-injection procedure, expand the OS Injection panel. Injection panel on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template In Admin Type, select the type of injection. The CPT details automatically appear based on the admin type selected. In Med. Necessity, select the reason for the injection procedure. Select a category. To associate a diagnosis code with the procedure, select a diagnosis. Note: If you use NextGen® Orthopedic Suite, you must not enter diagnosis codes in the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. Documenting Eye Injections

You can document procedure and medication information for eye injection procedures in the OD Injection and OS Injection panels on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template. You can document the medication information for up to two medications for an eye injection. You can also document patient's response for the documented injection in the Patient Response section. Document Using QuickPicks

You can fill in fields on the MICS Injections/Aspirations template quickly and efficiently with a QuickPick. Since a QuickPick saves the entire template, makes sure that you review all entries pulled into the fields and make any changes necessary to the patient encounter. Note: For Injections, the Lot Number field is never saved in a QuickPick. Other fields may be excluded based on configuration settings. Select the Star button to access the rendering provider’s QuickPicks or the Double-Star button to access System Sets and other providers’ QuickPicks. A picklist opens with the available QuickPicks. Select a QuickPick from the list and click OK. The information populates the fields of the panel(s). To add or change information in any field, click in the field to type or select an entry. For injections: If sub-locations are enabled, click in the Sub-Location field and select the sub-location from which the medication is being used. Document Medication Details by Scanning Barcode

You can document medication details for an eye injection procedure by scanning the barcode printed on the medication package. Note: You must select a Sub-location, If sub-locations are turned on for your practice. Open the MICS MedAdmin OPH template, and then do one of the following: To document the right-eye-injection procedure, expand the OD Injection panel. To document the left-eye-injection procedure, expand the OS Injection panel. Injection panel on the MICS MedAdmin OPH template Select Scan Barcode. Scan the medication barcode printed on the medication package. Note: If the inventory contains multiple medications matching the scanned barcode in the inventory, a list of medications appears, where for you tocan select the requirednecessary medication. The details in Source, Medication, Lot #, Units, Expiration Date and J-Code automatically appear. The DUR check window opens, displaying all the possible interactions for the selected medicine. Document Using QuickPicks

You can use a QuickPick to fill in the template quickly and efficiently. Here we describe using QuickPicks that you built and saved previously (see QuickPick Toolbar). Select the Star button to access the rendering provider’s QuickPicks or the Double-Star button to access System Sets and other providers’ QuickPicks. A picklist opens with the available QuickPicks. Select a QuickPick from the list and click OK. The information populates into the fields of the panel(s) exactly as it was saved, with the Lot Number field saying Required in red. If sub-locations are enabled for your practice, click the Sub-Location field and select the sub-location from which the medication is being used. Select the Lot Number field. A picklist opens. Select the lot number. The system runs a DUR Check for the medication. The expiration date for the selected lot displays in the Exp. Date field. Repeat steps 4-5 for all medications.
