Document Medication Details by Scanning Barcode
You can document medication details for an eye injection procedure by scanning the barcode printed on the medication package.
Note: You must select a Sub-location, If sub-locations are turned on for your practice.
- Open the MICS MedAdmin OPH template, and then do one of the following:
- To document the right-eye-injection procedure, expand the OD Injection panel.
- To document the left-eye-injection procedure, expand the OS Injection panel.
- Select Scan Barcode.
- Scan the medication barcode printed on the medication package.
Note: If the inventory contains multiple medications matching the scanned barcode in the inventory, a list of medications appears, where for you tocan select the requirednecessary medication.The details in Source, Medication, Lot #, Units, Expiration Date and J-Code automatically appear.The DUR check window opens, displaying all the possible interactions for the selected medicine.
- Select the interactions you want to acknowledge, enter the reason, and then select Acknowledge.
- In the Qty field, select the quantity being administered.
Note: For single dose medications, if you enter a quantity less than the vial amount, a message appears to confirm wasting the remaining quantity. You must select Yes, and enter the waste details in the relevant fields.
If you give multiple injections to a patient from a single dose vial, you must document the total quantity in a single row. You can enter the location, side, and number of injections in Comments.
