Document Medication Details by Scanning Barcode

You can document medication details administered through an injection procedure by scanning the barcode printed on the medication package.

You can enter the source, drug, lot number, unit type, expiration date and J-Code for a medications by scanning the barcode. You must select the quantity manually.
  1. On the MICS Injections/Aspirations template, expand the Procedure Type panel.
  2. Select the Procedure Type as Injection.

  3. Select the sub-location, if turned on.
  4. Enter the procedure information.
  5. Select Scan Barcode.
  6. Scan the medication barcode printed on the medication package.
    The source, drug, lot number, unit type, expiration date and J-Code fill in. The system runs a DUR Check for the medication.
  7. In the Qty field, select the quantity being given.
  8. Select Add/Update.
    The information is saved to the Injections/Aspirations grid at the top of the template.
