Document Medication Details Manually
You can manually document medication details administered through an injection procedure.
Note: You can add up to four medications for an injection procedure.
- On the MICS Injections/Aspirations template, expand the Procedure Type panel.
- Select the Procedure Type as Injection.
- Select the sub-location, if turned on.
- Enter the procedure information.
- From the Source field, select the source of medication.
The MLTS Dbpl Medication Name picklist opens.
- Select the medication being administered in the Medication field.
The MLTS Dbpl Med Ndc Lot Inj picklist opens.
- Select the lot number for the medication in the Lot Number field.
The system runs a DUR Check for the medication. If the system cannot complete the DUR Check, a message appears and a note is added to the bottom of the template notifying you that a manual DUR Check should be completed.The Quantity keypad opens.
- Enter the quantity being given, and select OK.
Note: For single dose medications, if you enter the less quantity than the vial amount, a confirmation message appears to confirm wasting the remaining quantity. You must select Yes.
If you are giving multiple injections to a patient from a single dose vial, document the total quantity in single row. You can enter the location, side, and number of injections in Comments field.
The medication information appear in the fields. The expiration date and J-Code fill in based on the medication information entered. - Select Add/Update.
The information is saved to the Injections/Aspirations grid at the top of the template.
