Add Medications to the Inventory by Scanning Barcode

You can add medications to the inventory by scanning the barcode printed on the medication package. Note: You cannot add immunizations to the inventory using Scan Barcode button in the Medication Inventory panel on the MICS Inventory Management system template for now. This will be enabled in a future release. However, you can add immunizations to the inventory manually using Immunizations Configuration system template. On the Inventory Management template, expand the Medication Inventory panel. Select the Add option appearing below the medication grid. The results are as follows: The Scan Barcode button appears. The Vendor, Cost, and Invoice # fields appear, if the Require Invoice #s for Items check box is selected on the Invoice Configuration system template. The Received Date field appears displaying today's date, if the Enable Received Date check box is selected on the Miscellaneous Configuration system template. Document Vaccine Information by Scanning the Barcode

You can document details of vaccines that need to be administered by scanning the barcode. Open the MICS Immunizations template. Enter the name of the preparer of the vaccine in the Prepared By field. Expand the Immunization Administration panel. Select one of the following options to view the required order in the Immunization Orders grid: Today's Orders Prior Pending Orders Select the required vaccine order from the Immunization Orders grid. The name of the provider who ordered the vaccine appears in the Ordering Provider field at the top of the MICS Immunizations template. The entries in the grid for vaccine name, expiry date, and CPT® code appear in the corresponding fields below the grid. The entries change as you enter additional details for the vaccine. Select the sub-location, if turned on. Select Scan Barcode. Scan the required medication barcode generated from the Barcode Configuration template. Configuring Barcodes

You can configure and print medication barcodes used for documenting the dispensing and administration of medications to a patient on the Barcode Configuration system template. When medications are entered into inventory, the system assigns a unique barcode number to each medication. Each medical record template has a Scan Barcode button that enables you to scan the barcode to enter the medication information. Scan Documents and Images in Batch

Before you begin Set your scanner color settings to 200 dpi and to black and white. You can scan a document as part of a batch or the Scan & File process. Then, you can append, or add more pages to, the document you just scanned. You can append documents both before and after you post them. Place a document or image you want to scan into your scanner. Open NextGen® Document Management. On the toolbar, select Batches. In Image Batches, select the open menu button, and then select New. In Batch Information, enter a description for the batch of documents or images. In Acquire Profile, select Scanner, and then select Acquire. You can also select Scan Template in Acquire Profile, and then select the scanning template that you want to use from the Scan Template list. The TWAIN Driver interface opens. Documenting Vaccine Administration

You can document details of vaccines that need to be administered to a patient. On the MICS Immunizations template, in the Immunization Administration panel, you can document administration details of vaccines that are ordered for the patient. In the Immunization Orders grid, you can view the vaccine entry to verify that an order is placed through the Orders module for the vaccine to be administered. You can document basic information for a vaccine manually or by scanning the bar code. After you enter the basic information, you can either waste the vaccine or add additional information before submitting charges. Document Medication Details by Scanning Barcode

You can document medication details administered through an injection procedure by scanning the barcode printed on the medication package. You can enter the source, drug, lot number, unit type, expiration date and J-Code for a medications by scanning the barcode. You must select the quantity manually. Note: You can add up to four medications for an injection procedure. On the MICS Injections/Aspirations template, expand the Procedure Type panel. Select the Procedure Type as Injection. Select the sub-location, if turned on. Enter the procedure information. Select Scan Barcode. Scan the medication barcode printed on the medication package. Note: If the inventory contains multiple medications matching the scanned barcode in the inventory, a list of medications appears, where for you tocan select the requirednecessary medication.
