Medication Source

Use the Medication Source grid to configure the Source picklist below the Medication Inventory grid in the Inventory Management template. The grid comes pre-loaded with the following sources: 340B (medications tracked/used in the 340B program) Patient (patient-specific medications) Practice (medications billed by the practice) Sample (sample medications) CAUTION: You cannot change the Patient or Practice entries in the Medication Source grid. Configuring Source Types

You can configure the Source picklist to select the source of medications in your inventory. You can configure the Source picklist used on NextGen® Medication Inventory Control templates in the Source Types panel on the MICS Medication Picklist system template. Source Types panel You can use the Medication Source grid to configure the Source picklist for non-vaccine medications that are added into inventory using the MICS Inventory Management system template. You can use the Immunization Source grid to configure the Source picklist for vaccines that are added into inventory using the MICS Immunizations Configuration system template. You can use the Active and Inactive options to filter the grid content. You can change the status of a picklist value to Active or Inactive using the Toggle button. Medication Picklist Template

Each of the panels in the Medication Picklist template has grids that correspond to picklists on configuration templates or medical record templates. Use the grids to configure the picklists for managing inventory and administering medications. Configuring Manufacturer and Unit Type Picklists

You can configure picklists for the Manufacturer and Unit Type fields used on the Medication & Billing Configuration system template. You can configure the picklists using Manufacturer and Unit Type panel on the MICS Medication Picklist system template. The following grids in the Manufacturer and Unit Type panel displays the picklists for the Manufacturer and Unit Type fields on the Medication & Billing configuration template. Adding General Information for Dispensed Medications

You can add general information for documenting dispensed medications on the MICS Dispensing template. The following table describes the fields on the MICS Dispensing template, which are used to add general information for dispensed medications. Field Description Prepared by You can click this field, and select the preparer of the injection from the providers window. Specialty You can click the field, and select an appropriate specialty from the specialty window. After you enter the specialty, the selected value is defaulted in the Specialty field on the following templates of the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control, and the Specialty field becomes read-only. MICS Imms MICS Injections/Aspirations MICS Med Management Sub-Location You can click this field, and select the sub-location for dispensing medications. Manage Billing for Specialties

You can add, update, and delete billing configurations for various specialties. Open the MICS Medication & Billing system template. To add a billing configuration for a specialty, do the following in the section above the Medication Information Configuration panel. Select the field appearing below the Specialty column, select the specialty to be configured, and then select OK. Select the location where the submitted charges need to be sent. Select Add. The billing configuration is added to the specialty grid. To update a billing configuration for a specialty, do the following in the section above the Medication Information Configuration panel. Select the specialty that needs to be edited from the grid. Make the desired changes. Select Update. The changes are updated to the specialty grid.
