Template Field Types
The following table explains the types of template fields listed in the order that they appear on the Fields toolbar.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Label | Labels enable you to add information to a template. You can set up a label as a header for the template or simply to enter text viewable template users. |
Data Entry (Edit) | Data entry fields enable you to enter information into NextGen® Enterprise EHR through templates. These fields can be used to enter time, date, and numeric values, as well as user-defined text. |
Check Box | Check boxes enable you to enter data by selecting or clearing a predefined response. |
Push Button | You can use buttons to trigger several different actions. Launching another template or module within NextGen® Enterprise EHR is the most common purpose of buttons. |
Data Sheet | Data sheets display data from NextGen® Enterprise EHR tables in tabular or grid format. The following types of data sheets are available: Appointments, Case Sheet; Data Flow Sheet, Data Grid - CM (Case Management), Data Grid- DM (Demographics), and Data Grid- MR (Medical Records), Employer, Encounter Sheet, Ethnicity, Family Unit, Gender, Orders Summary Sheet; Practice, Problem List, Problem Notes, Race, Relationship, Stored Procedure, Summary Data Grid, Summary Sheet, System, and Tracked Problems. |
Radio Button | Use a radio button when you want to select only one option from a group of options. Usually radio buttons are part of a set representing multiple, predefined responses. Users enter necessary data by selecting an appropriate radio button. Selecting a new button clears the previously selected button. Radio buttons are represented by one field. |
Active Text | Active text is similar to a regular hyperlink. The most common use for active text is to launch another template or module within NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Active text can be triggered to change color to signify that a template or a module was previously accessed. |
Active Image | An active image is similar to active text. You can edit any image file in the Image Region Editor Utility, creating active image regions to launch a template or module or other action within NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Image Region Editor Utility Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. |
Note | Note fields enable you to enter note text or to embed an audio file for transcription and import into a NextGen® Enterprise EHR template for the selected patient. When you set up an audio note field, you must specify the recording method. You can record an audio file using the built-in NextGen® Enterprise EHR Audio Recorder or an external tape device or digital interface/dictation device. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, you can open the audio note template and generate a Rich Text Format (RTF) document that is then transcribed and processed by the Note File Monitor utility for insertion in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR template. |
Web Browser | You can embed an Internet browser into a template to search for and display the information available on the web or on any HTML page stored offline. You can use the web browser field with the Web Navigate trigger and the Web XChange trigger. |
Patient Image | You can use the patient image field to display a patient's picture in a template. You can add a patient's image from the Patient Information window. |
Graph | Graph fields enable you to select the graph type, style, template type and template fields (if the graph type is Template Data), size, and Y-axis range during the design of a template. At run time, NextGen® Enterprise EHR draws the graph based on the specified information. |
Order Control | You can use the order control field as follows:
For more information about ordering tests or entering test results, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Orders Module User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. |
Collapsible Panel | A collapsible/expandable panel enables you to view a larger amount of content on a single template. You can place the panel on the non-Popup type templates only. |
Sub Template | A sub template provides a quick way to share fields, triggers, and logic on multiple templates. Changes made to a sub template update each instance where you share the sub template. At run time, sub templates are loaded to the template they have been added to; they cannot be opened through a trigger or from the Select Template window. |
Component | This field hosts a component that is accessed in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. This field currently supports the following components: Communication, Graphical Exam Tool (GET), Patient Registry (NextGen® Care Population Management Hub) and XProvider Search for NextGen® Share. |
