Set up Web XChange Trigger

The Web XChange action is used with the web browser field. It enables you to:
  • Copy text from a web page or data from a specific field on the page into a template data entry (edit) or note field.
  • Copy a web page URL into a template data entry or note field.
  • Copy data between a template data entry or note field and a web page field.
  • Submit the form in a web page, which usually takes you to the next web page.
  1. Follow the applicable steps in General Trigger Setup.
  2. Select the Web XChange action.
    The Web Data Exchange window opens.

  3. From the Web Field list, select the web browser field you created.
  4. From the Template Field list, select the template field or variable to be used for the data exchange.
  5. From the XChange Action list, select one of the following actions:
    • Get Selection. Copy text selected from a web page into a predefined template field.
    • Get URL. Copy the URL of the currently displayed web page into a predefined template field.
    • Get Value. Copy data from a predefined web page field into a predefined template field.
    • Set Value. Copy data from a predefined template field into a predefined web page field.
    • Submit Form. Submit the form on the currently displayed web page. This action is similar to selecting a Submit button or selecting the ENTER key. It usually displays another web page.
  6. If you select an exchange action other than Set Value, Get Value or Submit Form, continue with step 8.
  7. If you select Set Value or Get Value, you must enter the precise HTML Field Name or ID.
    You can select the field name or ID from the list, or enter it.
    1. In the XChange Action field, if you select Submit Form, select the Form name or ID in the HTML Field Name or ID field.
  8. To save the trigger and return to the Trigger Info window, select OK.
  9. If necessary, set up a specific condition for the Web XChange action to be triggered.
  10. Select OK and save your template.
