Template Field Types

The following table explains the types of template fields listed in the order that they appear on the Fields toolbar. Field Description Label Labels enable you to add information to a template. You can set up a label as a header for the template or simply to enter text viewable template users. Data Entry (Edit) Data entry fields enable you to enter information into NextGen® Enterprise EHR through templates. These fields can be used to enter time, date, and numeric values, as well as user-defined text. Check Box Check boxes enable you to enter data by selecting or clearing a predefined response. Push Button You can use buttons to trigger several different actions. Launching another template or module within NextGen® Enterprise EHR is the most common purpose of buttons. Data Sheet Data sheets display data from NextGen® Enterprise EHR tables in tabular or grid format. Set up Web XChange Trigger

The Web XChange action is used with the web browser field. It enables you to: Copy text from a web page or data from a specific field on the page into a template data entry (edit) or note field. Copy a web page URL into a template data entry or note field. Copy data between a template data entry or note field and a web page field. Submit the form in a web page, which usually takes you to the next web page. Follow the applicable steps in General Trigger Setup. Select the Web XChange action. The Web Data Exchange window opens. From the Web Field list, select the web browser field you created. From the Template Field list, select the template field or variable to be used for the data exchange. Note: You can select Memo-type, data entry fields from the Template Field list. If you select Submit Form as the XChange Action, you do not need to select a template field. Set up Web Navigate Trigger

The Web Navigate action provides navigational controls for the web browser field. If you are using the Medical Summary Utility, you can set up this trigger to display a Continuity-of-Care Record (CCR) generated from the utility. For more information on CCRs and the Medical Summary Utility, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Medical Summary Utility Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Follow the applicable steps in General Trigger Setup. Select the Web Navigate action. The Web Navigation window opens. From the Field list, select the web browser field you created. Form the Navigate list, select one of the following actions: Back. Go to the previously viewed page. Forward. Go to the next page. Load. Load the selected Uniform Resource Locator (URL) or file path. Medical Summary. Display a CCR generated from the Medical Summary Utility. Refresh. Reload the information available on the current page. Insert Check Box

When you are logged in as KBM admin in Template Editor, you can modify the properties of NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates. In Template Editor, drag CheckBox from the Fields toolbar to the template design area where you want to place it. The Insert Checkbox window opens. In Table, the template name appears if the table is saved. Do one of the following: To create fields that are native to the table associated with this template, leave Table blank. To share fields with another template, select a template from Table. To create a local template field, select local from Table. In Field, do one of the following. To create a new field, enter the name in Field. You can use up to 30 alphanumeric characters. Do not begin the name with a number or underscore or include any spaces. To share a field from another template, select that template from Table and then from Field, select the field you want to use. In Type, do one of the following: Select Text for the alphabetic characters. Selec

Insert a Patient Image Field

Drag the Patient Image icon from the Fields toolbar to the template design area where you want to place it. The Insert Patient Image window opens. In the Name text box, enter the name you want to assign. To reposition the field on the template, enter the appropriate numeric values to replace the current vertical and horizontal coordinates displayed in the Position boxes. To resize the field, enter the appropriate numeric values to replace the current dimensions displayed in the Size boxes. In the Style section, select the Border, Client Edge, or Modal Frame check box. To hide the patient image field when the template is opened, select the Hidden check box. Select OK and save your template. At run time, the patient image scanned through the Patient Information window is automatically embedded into the field. Parent topic: Template Fields

Insert a Label Field

Drag the Label icon from the Fields toolbar to the template design area where you want to place it. The Insert a Label window opens. Note: The label name is automatically assigned in the Name box. You can enter a name of your choice. If necessary, select a mask from the Mask list. Enter the text to appear on the label in the Caption window. Note: Instead of entering the caption here, you can use in-place caption editing to enter the caption directly in the field after you have created it. To reposition and resize the field on the template, do the following: Enter the appropriate numeric values to replace the current vertical and horizontal coordinates displayed in the Position boxes. Enter the appropriate numeric values to replace the current dimensions displayed in the Size boxes. To do the following, select the check box: To apply a style to the label, select the applicable Style check box. The Preview window shows you what each label style looks like.
